About Patrick
I have been teaching group and private lessons for about 30 years now. I've been a contract teacher for The City Of Chino Hills for about 10 years, and have taught for the cities of Chino, Diamond Bar and Walnut as well.

I started my teaching business, LearnGuitare around 2006 and teach group and private lessons at its studio in Chino, CA.

I have performed since the late 70s in many bands and have met an played with a lot of good musicians. In the 80s, we were part of the scene that rocked the Sunset Strip and all over Southern California. Today, I perform with my wife in our Pat Benatar tribute band, HeartBreaker which was founded in 1999. We have performed many concerts since then, and have performed in front of thousands! We have performed in Japan for our naval troops, Canada, Arizona, Las Vegas as well as many California Casin
os, Concerts In The Park and other venues.

LearnGuitare is my passion and I look forward to working you and to help you reach your musical goals!

I'm a fun teacher! I've been teaching guitar to all ages for over 30 years...group as well as private.

While I make the lessons fun, I also make them very informative. I am serious and passionate about teaching and I make sure that my students walk away from each lesson saying, "Wow, that was a cool lesson!"

Here is a description of the basic beginning courses I offer:

GUITAR FOR YOUNG BEGINNERS (Ages 5-8)
This course is designed to introduce younger students to the basics of guitar playing by incorporating an extensive repertoire of well-known children’s songs carefully graded into an easy-to-follow format that provides the right start to music education. Students will be introduced to playing both single note melodies and simplified chords, incorporating quarter, half and whole notes along with their equivalent rests. Students will be taught to read music and will be introduced to many basic musical terms. The material is presented with colorful illustrations throughout to stimulate and maintain young students’ interest.

BEGINNING GUITAR FOR KIDS, TEENS & ADULTS (Ages 9-adult)
Students will enjoy an easy to follow format that provides a solid music education while teaching students to play single note melodies. This course is for anyone “just learning how to play” acoustic and/or electric guitar. Lessons include tuning, first position melody playing and chords, rhythms through eighth notes, solos, ensembles, strumming and picking.

BEGINNING ROCK & BLUES GUITAR FOR TEENS & ADULTS Ages 12+
Students will enjoy a fun, easy to follow introduction to playing Rock & Blues guitar. This class covers essential basics based on rock, metal and blues styles including the 12 bar blues progression, basic rhythm patterns through eighth notes including the shuffle feel, open position chords, power chords, power chord extensions, rock & blues comping, minor and major pentatonic and blues scales, improvisation and song structure.

Unlike other beginning guitar courses that teach students to play songs like 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,' 'Jingle Bells' and 'This Old Man,' students are introduced to jamming on simple rhythm and lead patterns featuring cool riffs and licks that sound like BOSTON, METALLICA, GUNS N’ ROSES, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, NIRVANA and TRADITIONAL & MODERN BLUES.

For students with more playing experience, we can design a lessons program to fit your needs to get you to the next level of musicianship.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Amps for bass and guitar, audio for teaching, guitars and bass guitars, teaching tools, music stands, cords, metronome, lounge for parents to sit during the lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I teach many genres of music to students of all levels. Young beginners from the age of 5, children, teens and adults (it’s NEVER too late to start). I work with many styles from the most basic folk to the heaviest of metal and just about all in between. Fingerstyle, Travis Picking, Classical, Early Rock n Roll, Classic Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country are just some of the styles I work with.

Theory and reading standard notation is very important for any beginning student to learn, especially children. As students progress in their playing ability, I add music based on their interests as well. I am a music teacher first and a guitar teacher second. I don’t just teach students how to play their favorite songs either, I teach the hows and the whys while we use the student’s favorite songs as a template.

In addition to that, when a student is ready, I also introduce how to improvise in each of the genres so that the student can create their own melodies and really make music.

I also welcome students that have a little or more experience as well. Perhaps you know a few chords and can play pretty well at the moment, but maybe you have “hit the ceiling”. I can help you reach the next level of musicianship.

I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!

About Omar
Knowing that you are looking for a instructor to teach you music puts a smile on my face. You see, music has been a part of my life since the age of 3. Some of my first memories are of me accompanying my father at home with his rehearsals or just singing together to have fun as a family. I believe music is a gift that unites people together bringing out our deepest emotions that words cannot express. At the age of 5 I received an organ and from that point on I embarked on a long life journey to indulge and learn more about music. In elementary, junior high and high school I was involved in any subject dealing with music. I joined school choirs, orchestras, bands, marching bands, jazz bands, musicals you name it. While enjoying all school music activities I was selected to join in honor county and state orchestras and choirs. In junior h
igh and high school I was selected to play for the Junior Pacific Symphony Orchestra, received scholarships to music summer camps, and was selected musician of the year. In college my quest continued with the Orange Coast College Orchestra, Praise Symphony Orchestra, Vanguard University Orchestra as well as guitar ensembles and college choir groups. I've also taken private lessons from Dr. Art David (Julliard graduate) in stand up bass as well as David Black (Pacific Symphony Orchestra) and classical guitar with Richard Glenn and David Murray. I've been teaching now for 15 years in guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, stand up bass, cello, piano and voice ranging from 5 yr old to 65 yr old. My styles of music range from classical, jazz, rock, blues and contemporary. At this point I'm enjoying playing and singing in my church choir and worship team as well as teaching my two kids the joys of music. I hope you truly enjoy the joy of learning music whether it be through me or another teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher I require all students to set time aside to practice. For without it, it is only wasting your time, your money and my time. I don't expect a total dedication to it but I do want to see some effort put into it. A little practice can go a long way and the more you do it, the faster you will progress and the more you will enjoy it. We will first start off with what you want out of music and the level you are at and go from there. Student can bring their own music either thru tabs, music sheet or just by ear but one thing I do expect is a student to learn how to read music notation. We will go thru the regular warm up exercises, material practiced during the week and any new music for the following week. Correct techniques in how to hold your instrument or voice procedures will be addressed. Music theory will also be part of the lesson as well as ear training. At the end of either 3 to 6 months you will have learned the basics of music and will be playing songs for you or someone else to enjoy. I will make it a total relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere but some dedication has to put on the students' part.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Dedicated music room, guitar both classical and electric, piano, cello, upright bass and electric bass guitar

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide my own instrument. I can also provide music stand, small amplifier if needed and music material for the first few lesson until student provides for him/her self. Student must have own instrument.

*** Specialties ***
My way of teaching would have to be that they must learn how to read music while learning how to play an instrument.

Probably the most important but least acknowledged instrument in the band. Learn how to hold a pocket and get the crowd to dance, or even just to jam in a band. If you play bass you will always be in demand!

About Ken
I've been playing music my whole life, but it was as a high school student when I was asked to teach the school's guitar class that I became a teacher. Since that time I've gone on to earn several awards, played in many different types of projects, and earned a Master's degree. You might have heard my music before too if you've ever listened to a podcast, TV commercials, Indy films, or played any video games. My most successful student thus far however, would have to be Jacob Tilley from the rock band Young the Giant.

Not everybody wants to be a rock star though, and there are many aspects to the world of music. During the course of my musical adventure I've played with orchestras, been in rock, bluegrass, reggae, pop and blues bands, classical ensembles and more. I have also had the opportunity to play for celebrities and diploma
ts. Basically I've done a little of everything and I believe that it is this diversity of experiences that makes me a better teacher. Having worked in so many settings gives me a broad understanding that I use to help you reach whatever goals you might have.

I have also become adept at writing, recording and producing music, studying under Frank Wright of the legendary rock band Chicago. If you have an interest in creating and/or recording music I can definitely help you get there! Check out my chill/downtempo instrumental album 'Night Music'.

*** Lesson Details ***
I can teach you about playing several different instruments, how to write, how to record your own music, and how to get your music career off the ground! As a youth, I was largely self-taught so my inspiration was always to have fun. I never had to deal with the 'homework' style of practicing so I've naturally incorporated that approach to my lessons. My goal is to keep you (the student) inspired and having fun. When that happens you will become good at your instrument and feel as though you 'played' your way to success! As your teacher I will also provide almost all of the materials for free and show you great free apps to help you along with your learning and keep costs to a minimum! I know we will have fun together while you learn and I look forward to meeting you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Guitars, piano/keyboard, drums, bass, banjo, mandolin, ukulele and a ProTools recording studio.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide the learning materials but I expect the student to have their own instrument, be that a guitar, drum set, etc.

*** Specialties ***
Commercial music is definitely my specialty, but I am also capable of doing various styles such as classical, bluegrass, traditional/folk. Just focus on what you want to learn and I can teach it to you.

I have been taking banjo lessons from Ken for 5 months. As an adult learner, I was concerned about finding the right person to take lessons from, and Ken has been wonderful. He paces our lessons well so I don't feel too overwhelmed. He is proficient in the banjo and other instruments so I'm getting well-balanced instruction. He is also very flexible with my schedule and adapts our lessons based on my progress. Ken really does deserve all of these 5-star recommendations.

Although my background is in classical guitar, I also teach bass in all styles, including rock and jazz.

About Phil
I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and teaching since 2008. Along with teaching, I've also been pursuing music recording, an endeavor which has produced two full-length albums and one that is still in progress that should be released sometime in 2018.

When teaching guitar or any other instrument, I typically use a method book to guide the lessons. In addition to the lesson book, which will cover music-reading, we'll learn scales, chords and strum patterns, among other things. I try to tailor each lesson according to the student's skill level and individual musical interests.

After learning the basics, we can learn different styles of music, including rock, blues, jazz, classical, etc. I look forward to exploring these genres with you!

Teaching Style
I believe first and foremost in supporting and developing what musically inspires a student’s decision to study and play music. In order to fully develop control, musicality and understanding of the music language, it is important to focus on several components including music theory (scale and harmonic structure/function and rhythm), style, ear-training, reading and performance skills.

Expectations of Students
Like any aspect of life, consistency and patience are two very important qualities to posses when working towards a goal. The duration of each practice session is proportional to the level of the student. Learning how to practice efficiently with your instrument is key for adherence and success in obtaining your goals.

I have been playing the bass guitar for over 15 years in various bands and at school and I am currently working toward my teaching credential. I’m comfortable teaching students of all skill levels on the bass guitar whether they have just started or are looking to take their playing to the next level. Ideally, we will work to cover a variety of styles and techniques in our time together from rock to latin music. That being said, I will work to meet the needs of each of my students individually whether they would like to learn all there is to know about the theory of music, or if they are just interested in learning some of their favorite songs. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile and I look forward to working with you!

About Robert
Hi! My name is Robert and I am an experienced bass player seeking both bass and guitar students. I am currently studying music education and working toward my teaching credential. I pride myself on my knowledge of music theory and my discipline on my instrument.

Music is my greatest passion in life and I am so grateful to be able to get up every day and enjoy what I do. To instill that passion in others is what I hope to achieve during my lessons. I make a custom plan for every student based on their previous experience and their personal goals for our time together.

I currently play with both a funk/soul band and reggae band where I showcase my talents on the bass guitar. I have been playing with various bands for 15 years, but I always have room to improve. I hope to instill the idea that learning an instrument is a life long journey
in my students. I look forward to hearing from you!

Wade Baker was a great trumpet instructor. One thing I noticed and liked a lot from the moment I met him was that he connected with his students to create a better musical experience. Only good things came out of my lessons and rehearsals with him. I was only under his instruction for a year, but I grew a lot as a player with the help from him and also learned more about music than I ever did before. Wade is a very experienced player in multiple genres of music and he makes sure to use all of what he learned to teach his students. The only downside to being under his instruction was how busy he could be at times, but as a musician myself I completely understood. I would recommend Wade to anyone with how great my experience was with him.
