Accordion:
I make accordion easy by first teaching one hand at a time . Once the student feels proficient we will begin to incorporate coordination between the right hand, which plays the piano notes and left hand which pulls the bellow and plays the chords. In no time at all the student will be playing accordion songs. I encourage the student to bring in songs they like want to learn.

Karen fixed my problem in five minutes after I had two years of getting no where. I play clarinet and was curling my fingers like on a clarinet. On a bagpipe, you must lay the fingers flat. Suddenly all the pressure problems with the reed went away.

I've had about 12 lessons with Karen so far. Out of the few guitar teachers I've gone to in my life, Karen is definitely my favorite. She is super encouraging, patient, and careful about details. We started off by going through a beginner's book that covered sight reading and guitar basics, just what I needed. She was very flexible and willing to incorporate singing into the lessons, which helps a lot. Also, she's generally a good person and it's easy to feel comfortable around her -- in the past I have sometimes been so nervous around previous instructors that I could hardly play a note. Not so this time -- I am very happy with the lessons because I feel like I am making progress. Learning to play guitar is a dream of mine and with Karen I feel like I'll get there!

I had no confidence whatsoever in my vocal ability, however singing was something I always wanted to try. I took the plunge and began vocal lessons with Karen. She was very knowledgeable and patient, and it was a lot of fun, too!

20+ years experience, CD recording, orchestra etc.!
EVERY MUSIC STYLE!

Teaching is more a hobby and pleasure for me than a side job. My students mostly have to remind me that the time is over and I have to let them go. ;)

As I said, it is passion and love for the music and this fantastic instrument. Send me a message if you have any questions.

If you don't own an instrument. No problem. I can provide a rental until we find the right instrument for you within you budget.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.

I need to improve my spoken German for business and Marcel has been invaluable in helping me improve at a good pace while being incredibly flexible on lesson planning.

I've been working with him for about a month now and I've grown to feel more comfortable speaking with my colleagues who are native German speakers.

If you want a native, professional teacher who can be fun...Marcel is your guy.

I still don't understand why so many people laugh when you say "accordion"! This is one of the most expressive, international, fun, and emotional instruments out there! So much more than just "polkas": Argentinian tangos, German beer songs, French cafe, Southern Zydeco, Irish Celtic music, Russian folk, Italian melodic, and the list goes on... Bottom line: I love this instrument because it is FUN and VERY "produceable". Half of it is an arsenal of buttons while the other half is a good 'ol keyboard, and depending on which model you have, there are many tonal buttons to thoroughly change its personality -- no electricity needed!

I can teach you how to create some fun and inspired music on it regardless of your musical tastes, as long as you have a PIANO ACCORDION -- not JUST buttons like a bayan or concertina (sorry -- please note that I do NOT teach chromatic/diatonic button accordion or "virtual/electronic accordions" such as the Roland series -- just traditional, acoustic ...

Why TakeLessons?

Accordion Lessons

Do you want to learn how to play the accordion? If yes, then you’ve come to the right place, but first here is a little background on the instrument. The accordion was initially introduced to the United States by Count Guido Deiro, an Italian-American musician who specialized in vaudeville, a theatrical genre of music. Since then, the accordion has played an important role in all types of music including more prominently clogging, Polka, and Zydeco from Cajun and African-American traditions in Louisiana.

Often referred to as the squeezebox, it is played by compressing and expanding the bellows of the instrument while pressing keys to produce specific notes. It is often considered a challenging instrument to play, however with accordion lessons provided by our music instructors it can be fun and learned more easily. In addition, our instructors are experienced musicians and certified to provide lessons plans that will help increase your knowledge and excel more quickly. So whether you’re a beginner or an experienced musician we have the accordion lessons to help you achieve your musical goals. Check out our list of teachers and sign up for your accordion lessons today!
