I went into banjo lessons not knowing if I could master the instrument or not, being nearly 70 years old. While by no means a master (and never going to be), I have learned so much from Sam and he has shown such patience with me. I often leave my lessons wondering how he ever puts up with me - but he does. His encourgement, laid-back style, expertise and knowledge of music (plus theory) and the banjo is impressive. His good nature makes my lessons so much more pleasant. I would say Sam is a a great teacher for both a beginner or an accomplished musician or in between. He likes to talk and demonstrate (nice and slowly if requested) so I would recommend hour-long lessons at first.

Hi my name is David with Mac's Accordion. God has been good and has allowed me to teach and perform the accordion for the last 25 years. I have students from all around the world ( India, London, Germany, Switzerland, Canada and all around the United States). My lessons are high energy and a lot of fun. I teach from the Palmer Hughes Books and add in 25 years of playing into the lesson. I also send students different styles of music that will give them a more professional sound.

Here at Mac's accordion you have a choice of taking lessons from my Pittsburgh studio or you can learn the accordion at the comfort of your own home with live, One on One online accordion lessons.

I look forward in starting you on your accordion Journey.

Great first lesson. David made me feel comfortable since I am a senior and have not played in over 20 years. He was patient and encouraging. He made me feel I made the right decision to start taking lessons and to play again an instrument that I love.

Accordion Lessons

Do you want to learn how to play the accordion? If yes, then you’ve come to the right place. Private accordion lessons and classes with a TakeLessons Certified™ teacher near you or online accelerates progress, increases enjoyment, and improves every beginner's chances of becoming an expert player. Here is a little background on the instrument. The accordion was initially introduced to the United States by Count Guido Deiro, an Italian-American musician who specialized in vaudeville, a theatrical genre of music. Since then, the accordion has played an important role in all types of music including more prominently clogging, Polka, and Zydeco from Cajun and African-American traditions in Louisiana.

Often referred to as the squeezebox, it is played by compressing and expanding the bellows of the instrument while pressing keys to produce specific notes. It is often considered a challenging instrument to play, however with accordion lessons provided by our music instructors it can be fun and learned more easily. In addition, our instructors are experienced musicians and certified to provide lessons plans that will help increase your knowledge and excel more quickly. So whether you’re a beginner or an experienced musician we have the accordion lessons to help you achieve your musical goals.
