I have been playing various types of saxophone (alto, tenor, soprano, and bari) since I was in middle school. I have played in jazz bands and combos in high school all the way through college. I can teach many musical styles and have worked with beginners and intermediate players.

Chelsea has been a great help for my son. He was having difficulty in class and was not happy to play it. He developed interest in this instrument after having these additional personal classes.

Professional saxophonist, trained at the nations top music schools, I teach students of all levels and ages, whether just beginning or an experienced player. I have a great amount of experience in both classical and jazz and have been playing for about 16 years myself.

In addition to helping students establish solid fundamentals, I can help you reach your goals, whether that be through working on classical solo repertoire, jazz and improvisation, band music, preparing for a competition or audition, and more. I try to make lessons fun and enjoyable for the student.

If you don't live near me, online lessons are a great alternative to in person lessons. I have had success teaching many students of various abilities and ages throughout the country and abroad online!

I started playing saxophone in the 1970's. But satisfaction with the instrument was delayed till the 90's when I started playing it in live band settings. In 2009, I started playing sax in studio recordings. Along the way, I started to give away my skills on sax to those who were interested. Fascinated by the process of teaching, I offer my sax expertise to beginning students, and to intermediate students who desire to be move beyond a school band instrument sound. A sax can do so much more!!

Matt is an intuitive teacher who is able to read the student and meet him at his level. He is clearly highly proficient as a musician himself and has a clear talent in sharing his expertise in a clear and practical way to the student.

My 7-year old daughter Kelsey has been receiving piano and vocal instruction from Matt for several months now. This is her first time taking music lessons, and already she is perfecting her first piano song, as well as a couple of songs she has learned to sing. In her own words, Kelsey describes Matt as a "kind and responsible teacher who always makes sure his students do the right thing, and is a great teacher." We are very thankful to have found Matt, and he is well qualified to teach a music student of any age.
