I have made wood sculptures, clay, and even stone. one of the things I like doing, as well as my kids and students, is making marble runs out of cheap materials along with hot glue and some clever ingenuity.

About Lance
I have got my bachelors in Art Education from Boise state University, where I also took classes or participated in Volleyball and baseball. I have been teaching art since 2006, mostly at the elementa
ry level. one year at the middle school level. I love making things, specially for costumes as Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. As a teacher I get to teach a little bit of everything and I also get to learn new things that I would like to try and learn as well as teach. I have been teaching basic stop motion animation with my students. I have also been airbrushing for 10 years, with my focus on painting t-shirts.

Sculpture, especially in the contemporary setting, can refer to so many different things. Intelligent decision making and intent make art objects. The piece you look at that hits you in the face was constructed to be that way. I never much thought of myself as a sculptor, but let's be serious - fine art disciplines all overlap. It would be an exciting experience to be able to teach classes on sculpture because of how broad the topic is. I don't know if the majority of people searching for lessons on this want to learn how to bring realism into the round, or discuss conceptuality and aesthetics to work in the contemporary vein, but I am game for it all.

About Mary
I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. My main areas of concentration are drawing and painting, but I am also trained in printmaking, photography, sculpture, etc. Being an artist
means being a lot of things. You are not someone with just a hobby; you are an engineer, mathematician, planner, risk taker, designer, scientist. The list goes on. I dedicate my life to problem-solving. This is what art is. I would love to share my knowledge and be able to continue to support my creative life by supporting the drive for success in others.

I have really no age limit in terms of students. If you are a parent looking for a teacher for a child/ren, that's great, we could have some fun constructing and working on anything from still lifes of their favorite toys to acrylic paintings that touch on color relationships. If you yourself are looking to strengthen your drawing from nature or learn how to build a realistic self-portrait, that's great too. I'm willing and happy to do anything from spending time sculpting with a senior citizen to discussing and working on conceptual painting with a student in need of more outside fuel and support for their creative fire. I believe that teaching to think like an artist is just as important as teaching technical ability. I've become adept at both of these skills in my four years at the University of Dayton, and I am so excited to share with and learn from you in return!

My daughter and I took drawing lessons with Mary, and it was a great experience. She adapted her plan to what we wanted to learn and guided us through the creative process. Mary was patient and gave great constructive feedback. I would recommend her to everyone!

Dependent on skill levels, certain materials can be chosen to initiate a work, whether it be for a sculptural piece using stone, ceramic clay, wood, or metal.
An initial assignment to test the individuals capabilities would be to construct an emotional value (ex: anger , justification, embarrassed , etc.) or to begin Sculpting something that represents an adjective.

About Gabriella
