I am an experienced teacher of 16 years! I thrive on finding each student's specific learning style and cultivating a positive and productive learning experience within that. I apply consistent and focused energy in getting my students to strive for their best, and I aim to inspire them to respond in turn with the same focused and accurate effort.

I teach using a modified Suzuki method. This means that, while I do subscribe to Suzuki's "mother tongue" approach, I also believe that education on an instrument requires literacy from a young age. I have discovered in my years of teaching that an early ability to read notes and understand musical theory and form is not a handicap to a student's development, but rather a benefit to the student gaining a richer, fuller understanding of their instrument and music in general.

I believe that every person can be taught, that parental involvement is crucial in the development of musicians from a young age through the high school years, and ...

Both of my children have been studying violin under Caroline's guidance for over a year now and we couldn't ask for a better teacher. She is very professional, super friendly and simply fantastic with kids. She always finds a way to motive and inspire them so they do better every class. We were a little worried how the transition from in-person to online tutoring, but it's gone great, and we're grateful we were able to find such a good teacher.
Classes with Caroline are always magical and super fun!

Super excited to share my knowledge of the violin with young students of all ages! I have had the privilege to be mentored by Ruggiero Ricci, Alice Schoenfeld, Charles Castleman, and Ida Bieler (the latter two being their teaching assistant). Currently, I am studying with Boris Kuschnir in Vienna, Austria. I have been teaching for the past 10 years with my students getting into schools such as Juilliard, Indiana University, New England Conservatory, Boston University, Carnegie Melon, and more. I truly believe in the instruction of good technique as a foundation for all rising violinists. With the musical background of both American and European pedagogues, I can contribute to the upbringing of a well-rounded musician in both their musical understanding and instrumental technique. I understand that each musician is different and I look forward to exploring your music through your sound and voice!

I started taking from Miclen to prepare for graduate school auditions. What an indispensable resource, with his immense knowledge of the repertoire as well as keen insights on what it takes to flourish as a classical artist. Drawing on his rich background studying in the US and Europe, Miclen has expanded my interpretive ideas. He is a rigorous teacher, yet one of the most kind and encouraging individuals I’ve ever worked with; he more than goes the extra mile! I couldn’t recommend him more highly!!!

Music can be a very intimate practice. To share, create and collaborate can be challenging if not fostered in the beginning of musical education. Lending students a safe and educational place to create can lead to great confidence that spans all areas of life and study. Because of this, I encourage involvement in the community where possible. For instance, I most recently had my violin students collaborate with the local youth guitar orchestra to perform a small concert series. I challenged my students to ideate and take a hands on approach to arranging the music. The relationships they built were forever lasting, the skills the gained were expansive and each witnessed their own improvement with excitement. Engagement fosters a higher-level of learning and development.

Fostering creativity leads to development but it can only grow from the fundamentals. The more tools in the box, the more one can create. Some discipline is needed to gain the understanding necessary to reach any ...

Ms. Chris is awesome. My son started taking lessons to see if he really liked the violin about 3 1/2 years ago and fell in love with the violin. I do believe he likes it simply because he has an AWESOME teacher. She pushes him when he needs to be pushed and encourages him to audition for performances.
