Lessons are tailored to fit each individual student's ability and goals. I believe in challenging students while maintaining a supportive and encouraging environment. I believe fundamentally that each student has a unique learning style and benefits from a tailored approach. I do not subscribe to a particular regimented program of study, rather I select the repertoire and etudes to match each student's needs. I believe in choosing both concert music and etudes to challenge individual deficits and work on skills that will apply broadly across the repertoire.

It is my goal to select level-appropriate repertoire to build on strengths, challenge weaknesses, and ensure that young violinists develop strong technical facility that enables them to develop into mature musicians with ease.

About Joshua

I am a professional orchestral violist and recording artist based in Long Beach, California. However, I am currently living in Denver, Colorado. For the past two seasons, I have primarily served as the assistant principal violist of the Pacific Symphony, while enjoying a flourishing freelance career

I've been teaching violin for about 10 years and have recently received my Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Performance from CU-Boulder. Having taught as a private teacher for younger students as well as a Teaching Assistant for a String Methods class in my undergrad, I am extremely comfortable working with a wide range of ages and skill levels. I teach using the Suzuki method, as well as basic music theory, note-reading, and other skills based on the student's needs and skill set.

I always looked forward to my lessons with Pamela. She brought kindness, patience, and a sense of fun to the session. I learned a lot about music as well, and she honored my intentions for learning an instrument, helping to set a pace that was comfortable for me yet exciting and challenging.
Jemuel
Pamela knows how to teach, not just play, the violin. Many people charging for lessons simply were taught how to play once upon a time, but don’t have a plan or an ear/eye for what to work on to improve a new or experienced player. But Pamela is a professional and very serious about her job for someone who laughs every thirty seconds. She’s very fun and vibrant too!
Hilarie Hauptman
For the past two years I have enjoyed private fiddle lessons with Pamela Margon. She is most encouraging and positive while always challenging me to go further. I appreciated her support in the music I wanted to play. As an older student (65), I have enjoyed learning to play by ear; it's like learning a new language, and I have grown in my playing confidence. I look forward to continuing with the fiddle for years to come thanks to Pamela's delightful teaching manner. Highly recommend!

"OMG my excitement is through the roof after my first lesson with Humberto! I can't even get my feet to touch the ground. I am an adult, basically starting from scratch picking up my violin for the first time in 20+ years having played for a year as a kid. I was so nervous, and feel silly starting at such an elementary level, and Humberto's instruction was not only expert, but his enthusiasm was completely genuine. He was authentically supportive every step of the way and thrilled at every moment of progress. His infectious smile made me feel so safe being a novice starting over and so excited for my next lesson...which he's not teaching me in Spanish since he learned I need to practice my dusty Spanish skills as well! Couldn't recommend him highly enough, love love love Humberto and can't wait til next week's lesson!"

"Great Teacher!!!

Kimberly is an excellent teacher and I highly recommend her. She is patient with you as a student and explains things at your level. She is very knowledgable about music as she plays many instruments and has a great ear. As an adult student she had me learn to read music early in the lesson which I found to be very helpful. Lessons are at her home and it is in an appropiate setting. My Lessons fly by as she has an engaging teaching style and she stays focused on helping your improvement from week to week. She is flexible in rescheduling your weekly lesson if needed.I would rate her an A+ as a Music teacher!"

"At the age of 58 I decided to start taking violin lessons for 2 reasons, enjoyment of playing music and exercise my brain. I found Lucy K on the takelessons.com website and she was able to accommodate my request for lessons in my home on a Sunday. Starting from scratch, she taught me the fundamentals of playing and I have made some progress over the last 8 months. She is patient with me yet will push me along and at time bring me out of my comfort zone, which is good. She has the ability and training to teach students from early age to older adults like me. In addition, she also teaches piano, which my wife started lessons with Lucy K at the same time I started violin. She has my recommendation if you have interest in either violin or piano.
