The main goal of an Ableton class is to be able to effectively use all the tools that you are given to achieve your specific goal. Each student will have a different idea of what they want to create with this software, and its really important to be able to remove the technical obstacles and get straight to the creating. I will enable each student to be able to better visualize their projects, and I will train their ears to be able to better listen to sound such that they can understand the specifics behind creative decisions. As a producer you have to take both microscopic and macroscopic views when it comes to a piece of music, understanding how both a small sound can affect the progression of a story though music, and how the story itself unfolds over time. This can all be done through practical training in Ableton Live.

Alex is an awesome teacher, very knowledgeable and focused on details. He goes at the perfect pace so I don't feel overwhelmed. I've browsed YouTube for Ableton lessons, and it feels chaotic to learn this way. Ableton can be intimidating, but Alex organizes the information and presents the information is a digestible way. Our lessons cover the perfect amount of information.

I went through 4 voice teachers here in NYC before settling on Mary - been taking vocal training with her for about a year and half now and it's been worth every penny.

Mary is an excellent communicator, with a great sense for analogies and concrete descriptions for abstract concepts (esp crucial for things like singing). She's a gifted vocalist, having been classically trained with an Opera and Jazz background, but more than that - she has the ability to enhance someone else's sense of style and natural voice. She is of course also an amazing human all around, with a great attitude, style, and general "lust for life." Highly recommend Mary as a vocal coach

My decades long musical history was moving toward something new - singer-songwriter-guitar performer. I needed help. Mary is shockingly amazing in all three, which says nothing for her piano and tech skills, which says nothing for her really beautiful ear and professional easy demeanor ... I can't recommend her enough. She has transformed a part of my musical world into something, for which I am both eternally grateful and waiting for my next lesson.

I began taking lessons with Mary after I heard her sing. Besides having a terrific voice I really love how effortless she makes singing look. I've been taking lessons with her for about a month and she's been helping me connect the dots. I appreciate her method. She works with me to build my voice and doesn't push a style or direction. Her descriptions give me directions on what to think and how to feel when I sing. I look forward to the coming months!

Modern technological tools are revolutionizing the possibilities for musical artists. By learning about music production, you can have the sounds of the orchestra, rock band, and beyond all at your finger tips. I offer instruction in Ableton Live and other related software.

Depending on your goals, music production lessons can include instruction on synthesis, realistic sounding manipulation of samplers, recording, mixing and mastering. If these terms sound like Greek to you, that's fine too! All that is required for music production lessons is an interest in creating music with a computer and other pieces of music technology.

I also offer lessons in composition, music theory, arranging, and piano performance. These subjects may also be included, if applicable. On the first lesson with a new student, I'll always go over the options for potential areas of study and work with the student to develop an appropriate course of study customized to their needs and interests. Our son loved Dylan and his DJ lesson nights. Dylan was able to walk us through the lessons that even our 8 year old was able to understand (with a little help from me on our end with online technical assistance.) The great thing is that Dylan was able to take over our screen to make learning Rekordbox that much easier. In four -30 min. sessions- our son is familiar with how and where to download music, where to find his music in Rekordbox, the process of placing beats, and what he needs to do to sync and mix two songs together. Now all he needs is a lot more practice! Dylan is that, "cool" DJ that any young child will look up to and enjoy spending time with. Highly recommend!

"If you’re looking to get started as a producer, then look no further. Jarod and I started working together when I had no clue what a midi even was. Since then he’s taught me about music production, mixing, mastering and I’ve learned a lot about the inner workings of the music business as well. He’s extremely knowledgeable and experienced as a producer, and will become a great teacher and friend to you on your music production journey"

"As the other reviewers wrote, Jarod is the real deal! You can see some of his work on Google Play Music under Jarod Glawe.

Currently, he does audio engineering and mixing for Rapper Twista, nothing to sneeze at, right? He's signed as a pop dance producer, working in EDM and house. So he focuses on more of the electronic top 40, i.e. he's worked with The Chain Smokers. Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. In Chicago, hip hop is the main thing. Some of the biggest rappers come out from Chicago, but most of his music comes out of Amsterdam.

He gave me the basics of Ableton, which was GREAT. I learned about EQ, compression, reverb, delay and phasors. We took a song by Bonobo (Ketto) and tried to reverse engineer all the tracks. This was hard, but in so doing, I got exposure to Splice and a host of amazing plug-ins. Every lesson was eye opening for me. I felt like I was dipping my toes into a vast ocean, and like a kid in a candy shop. These were awesome. Highly recommended.

He has an excellent command of the entire music production process and how to navigate the music industry; not surprisingly he’s now a signed artist. Unlike a lot of instructors, Jarod is a naturally gifted mentor who actually takes time to figure out and plan out the best way forward. He is willing to share any insight and experience he has with his students. If you’re thinking about learning music production, Jarod is the perfect mentor to help you get to the next level."
