I have a M.M in vocal performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts and have extensive operatic training. I teach an open throat technique (appoggio) that allows the singer to sing with freedom, and access their entire range evenly. I also work with students to develop style, interpretation, languages, and acting ability.

About Benjamin

I have extensively studied vocal performance for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master of Vocal Performance Degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, where I extensively studied the anatomy of the voice. I am the

Music Performance:
If you love to sing or play an instrument and you've always wanted to perform, you came to the right place. Performing since I was seven years old, I can assure you that I have more experience and ability than most of the most famous artists you love. Have fun or become better than all the competition. With my method anyone can learn to sing, play any instrument and feel confident performing in public or just at home. You will love it!

About Karen

Hi! My name is Karen D. I’ve had the pleasure of performing, singing, writing, and recording since I was seven years old. Besides being an Honor Graduate of Berklee School of Music, I have been a lifelong student of the international world-renowned instructors Dante Pavone and Charlie Banacos.

Karen obviously loves the piano & guitar. She’s probably an excellent teacher for those instruments. Why do I say that? That’s what she talked about! She spent half my lesson trying to convince me to learn one of those instruments. Could work on listening skills! Not even sure if she owns a set of bongos herself. Didn’t start teaching me anything until last 10 min & then I had to leave early anyway. So 50 min out of 60 and about 5 I actually learned a few things I could have been practicing for at least 30 min of class. Use her if you want to learn something else other than bongos.

Ms. Karen did a pretty good job, she had ideas for the lesson and provided ideas for the next lesson. She went out of her way to help me with this new idea---------"music" and "reading music." If there was any short fall in the lesson it was on my side and my preparation failings. I have no problem recommending Ms. Karen to others. Regards, JC

Extremely knowledgeable! Karen is a superb guitar instructor. Honestly, I was struggling. Discouraged! She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses, and moved me from beginner to intermediate in a matter of months. If you’re getting tired of learning from YouTube and smart phone apps, let Karen kick start your guitar playing. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Karen!!

Music performance includes the methods of bringing a piece to an audience. It includes acting, body language, tone and expression in the voice. It also includes discussions of what the song means to the performer and how they would like to share that.
I recommend adults take from 45 minute to 1 hour lessons weekly for skill building.

About Julia

How did I become an Opera singer? I enjoyed singing in highschool, won a contest and went to college as a music major still with little knowledge of music. Thru practicing many hours per day, wise mentors as well as participating in lessons, choir and opera performances helped me graduate with a BA

Julia is a superb, sensitive coach, who knows how to help her students connect with their audiences through body language, voice tone, and word selection and emphasis. She gives one the confidence to be at his or her best when in front of the audience. She has helped me with every critically important speech I have delivered during the last 5 years. I look forward to working with Julia again on my next audience-facing event.

Julia is a great voice teacher. She goes beyond exercises and posture and talks about presentation, mood, musicianship, connecting with an audience. One of her expressions is "Reach for the joy!" I am an old guy and have been playing various instruments forever but never studied voice. Her lessons are always inspiring and have given me not just technique, but truly a new outlook on life.
Lauren
I began taking lessons with Julia back in March 2020 and I am still continuing lessons with her. I am training in classical/opera and musical theater performance. I have been singing since a very young age and no teacher has taught me what Julia has taught me. She has pointed out in detail how I am singing and where to properly sing using different vocal techniques. Julia will break down step by step, body posture, breathing, and vocal placement when developing and learning vocal skills and techniques. Techniques that I was never properly taught or aware of. With her incredible ear, instructions and teaching, I have felt such a large improvement in my singing capability in a course of year and as helped me achieve my goals and build confidence whenever I have the opportunity to perform. Julia is absolutely talented and I am so grateful she is my teacher. I highly recommend for any aspiring classical, musical or opera singer to take lessons with her.
