About Matt

I have been teaching guitar to students on the East and West Coasts of the United States for over 20 years. I was always interested in music and made my first “recording” at the age of 2 and a half. I got serious about playing the guitar when I was 10 years old after hearing the legendary Randy

Best in home teaching experience my daughter ever has had. Can't believe how well she is getting and in such a short amount of time as we just started taking here to Uma a few months ago. At 13 she is learning faster than I ever could. This is no lazy teacher. Homeschooling my child and Uma comes one a week to teach her how to play the piano. She is a very nice woman, with a gift, I would recommend Uma to anyone who want's to learn how to play the piano, Thank you Uma.

I started taking online piano lessons with Uma a few months ago. This is my first experience to have lessons via Skype, and it works great, it saves a lot of time and makes learning much more convenient. I enjoy learning with Uma :) She has found a personal approach to me, and keeps me motivated and interested throughout the learning. Uma is a great professional teacher, and my progress is obvious! I feel confident and safe with her knowing she will lead me to success)) The prices are fair, and I enjoy the Takelessons in general, as everything is fast, mobile and easy. I would highly recommend you to check it by yourself!

Weather you dream to create your own music one day or applying for college to make music to be your life career - you need the knowledge of music theory. I provide individually developed courses of music theory which include subjects such as solfeggio, harmony and music analisys. More than scales, chords and arpeggios, my assignments require from you the usage of a piano to be able to apply the received theory information for further progress.

About Polina

Polina is by far and away the best piano teacher I ever had. Her lessons are of much higher value than what she charges. Her musical knowledge and ability is extraordinary. I would give her 6 stars if I could!
Samantha
I have been with Polina for two years and I cannot recommend her enough. She will introduce you to music in such a way that you cannot help but feel her love and passion for the subject. This is what makes every weekly lesson something I look forward to. Flexible and fun, she has guided me from my first time at the keys to Liszt. As an adult learner, I came in thinking my goals were impossible, but she made it all possible!

Polina radiates kindness, and always knows how to push me to succeed at any given piece I bring to her (even ones that I thought I’d never be able to play). Her teaching style is repertoire over technique which has meant in all my time with her I have never gotten bored with the piano or stuck in the seven levels of Hanon.

I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone, I often brag about her to my friends. Schedule her if you find an opening. It’s not often you can find someone so gifted in teaching music.
Veronica
Polina is an amazing teacher. I learned so much in my first lesson. She's encouraging but honest, which is perfect for those who want real feedback to improve. Can't wait for my next lesson!

"I've been taking lessons with David for more than 2 years, he's amazing... he's very knowledgeable, patient, knows how to explain difficult concepts and can adapt to a broad range of topics, covering different areas that I'm interested on, including music theory, songwriting, guitar and bass, and music production.

David is both a professional musician and an experienced instructor, and you can tell the difference that makes in every class.

We started with at-home classes, but switched to online during the pandemic and that's working pretty good for me to.

I'd recommend David to anyone looking to learn a new instrument, get better at it or expand their music knowledge in general."

"Emily has a strong commitment to making sure her students are learning about music while continuing to enjoy what music can bring to their lives. She not only taught me how to read, listen to, and study music, but she taught me why music is important and how I can live it. Emily teaches with grace and poise. She finds a way to relate to students of any ambition or experience. As a high school student looking to still be involved in music in college, Emily was able to find connections in several cities for me because of her numerous experiences of networking in the music world. She has a broad range of musical talents and has the ability to immediately connect with her students. Emily has not only been a great teacher for me, but a great friend."

Why You Should Learn (At Least a Little) Music Theory

One of the most common weaknesses for amateur musicians is a lack of music theory knowledge. Many people assume that learning theory is difficult (it isn’t) that it has no practical purpose (it does), or even that it will actively make them worse at making music (quite the opposite). I’m here to convince you that learning a little about how music works is one of the most important skills you can develop and should absolutely be part of your daily practice routine. Here are five reasons w …

How to Change the Key of a Song With and Without a Computer

What Does it Mean to Change a Key? To change a song’s “key” means to shift the whole musical system to a higher or lower position. This process is called “transposition.” Performers often need transpose a song to better fit their voices. That way, a performer with a naturally lower singing voice (like myself) will be able to more comfortably sing a song that was originally written for someone with a naturally higher voice. Or vice versa.  For singers, transposition feels fairly …
