Accordion:
I make accordion easy by first teaching one hand at a time . Once the student feels proficient we will begin to incorporate coordination between the right hand, which plays the piano notes and left hand which pulls the bellow and plays the chords. In no time at all the student will be playing accordion songs. I encourage the student to bring in songs they like want to learn.

About Karen

Karen obviously loves the piano & guitar. She’s probably an excellent teacher for those instruments. Why do I say that? That’s what she talked about! She spent half my lesson trying to convince me to learn one of those instruments. Could work on listening skills! Not even sure if she owns a set of bongos herself. Didn’t start teaching me anything until last 10 min & then I had to leave early anyway. So 50 min out of 60 and about 5 I actually learned a few things I could have been practicing for at least 30 min of class. Use her if you want to learn something else other than bongos.

Ms. Karen did a pretty good job, she had ideas for the lesson and provided ideas for the next lesson. She went out of her way to help me with this new idea---------"music" and "reading music." If there was any short fall in the lesson it was on my side and my preparation failings. I have no problem recommending Ms. Karen to others. Regards, JC

Extremely knowledgeable! Karen is a superb guitar instructor. Honestly, I was struggling. Discouraged! She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses, and moved me from beginner to intermediate in a matter of months. If you’re getting tired of learning from YouTube and smart phone apps, let Karen kick start your guitar playing. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Karen!!

Why do so many people laugh when you say "accordion"!? Let's show them different! This instrument absolutely ROCKS!!!

It is one of the most expressive, international, fun, and emotional instruments out there!

So much more than just "polkas": Argentinian tangos, German beer songs, French cafe, Irish Celtic music, Russian folk, Italian melodic, and the list goes on...

Bottom line: I love this instrument because it is FUN and VERY "produceable".

Half of it is an arsenal of buttons while the other half is a good 'ol piano keyboard, and depending on which model you have, there are many tonal buttons to thoroughly change its personality -- no electricity needed!

No sight-reading required!

All ages welcome!

I can teach you how to create some fun and inspired music on it regardless of your musical tastes, as long as you have a PIANO ACCORDION -- not JUST buttons like a bayan or concertina (sorry -- at this time, please note that I do NOT teach chromatic/diatonic button accordion ...

About Mark V

Mark V has been “Specializing In Melody” since the age of 5 when he discovered his natural ability to play and create catchy tunes by teaching himself the harmonica by ear. He went on to learn the accordion at 10, the piano at 12, MIDI and synthesizers at 15, the guitar at 30, and a long list o

After taking lessons online with Mark, I finally started making progress with the accordion I have had for 2 years and tried to learn by myself. He does a great job teaching music theory in small pieces that I can immediately use and apply to other songs and even other instruments as I go about practicing outside of lessons. I'm so glad I started taking lessons!

Also the TakeLessons website and video chat function work well; I haven't had any problems logging on or with connection so the lessons have all gone smoothly from a technical standpoint.

First lesson and can't wait for the next and beyond. I really appreciated Mark's insights and suggestions to a song I brought to him for feedback. He was very supportive and provided actionable ideas I can use to improve it immediately.

Just to clear up any confusion, I unfortunately do not own or teach: Diatonic Accordion, Bandoneon, or Bayan. All of which are accordion instruments that feature buttons for both hands and not just the left.

I do own and teach the 120 Button Chromatic Piano Style Accordion with Stradella Bass (Left Hand Buttons/Right Hand Piano).

I can teach you how to play the accordion as a lead instrument in a group, as an instrument for accompaniment, or as a solo instrument where you use both band to create songs by yourself. I can help introduce easy songs in a variety of styles including jazz, musette (french), classical, zydeco, polka, Irish, etc...

You also do not need a 120 button bass accordion; 24, 32, 60, 72 will will also work just fine - you will just have less range available.

About Jared

I am overjoyed and grateful to say I have been teaching music since 2008. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience. More importantly, I love teaching and playing music with a passion. I play a great variety of instruments and have had the opportunity

Alex was very kind and enthusiastic. Unfortunately we do not have the same kind of accordion so I did not end up continuing lessons with him. The introductory lesson we did have was a lot of fun and I can tell he is very passionate and knowledgeable about technique and music theory.

"I've only had three lessons with Rodrigo but so far all of them have exceeded my expectations of a music instructor. Rodrigo is a great guy and accordionist. I like how I'm learning music theory along with my instrument because it will help me if I decide to learn more instruments. Thanks Rodrigo!"

"Mark is a great instructor with a very intuitive approach to teaching music. He guides the student in understanding how music works rather than using rigid "play your scales" type of instruction, though he can do that if you prefer. He's very patient and explains each concept thoroughly. If you want to make progress quickly while also enjoying the instructional session, choose Mark. You won't regret it."

"A very gifted instructor. I have been taking lessons from Mark for over 4 months now. I really enjoy the classes. Mark is very consistent and patient. He never gets upset or critical, other than to tell you what you are doing wrong, which I appreciate.
I have learned a lot and on my way to playing some conventional music. The hardest thing to me has been learning the techniques of playing 2 different keyboards with different hands. Mark uses melodies and exercises to allow for the development of the techniques required. It really makes learning the accordion unique in that regard. Training your hands, your ears and your brain is challenging but fun and Mark is the best teacher for this by all means."
