About Matt

I have been teaching guitar to students on the East and West Coasts of the United States for over 20 years. I was always interested in music and made my first “recording” at the age of 2 and a half. I got serious about playing the guitar when I was 10 years old after hearing the legendary Randy

Learn to find the notes on your instrument and read simple pieces, as well as all the theory to back up all concepts. Explore the basic methods of fretting and finger picking. Play simple pieces primarily in first position in major keys.

Intermediate
Expand upon your theory to include all three types of minor keys (natural, harmonic, and melodic). Start to traverse the neck in pieces.

Advanced

Talented teachers are rare. Like a great coach i sports... the coach doesn’t need to be the top athlete in his field to know how to teach each team member to hone their best abilities, he just has to know and see how to teach you how to get there. Being an outstanding teacher is a great talent all in itself... and that is Jesse. He has that quality and ability to lead, focus and take you where you want to go.

Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

Initially I was hesitant to do on-line, but Yulia had the materials and the expertise to get our daughter started learning mallets for band class in middle school. Our daughter really looked forward to her lessons. Yulia engaged with our daughter in a very fun and still professional way. Lessons were well-planned and they included a plan of practice for our daughter leading up to her next lesson. We are thankful that we found such a great teacher through TakeLessons!

I have been playing bass guitar consistently for over four year now and have spent a great deal of time refining my technique and working on what I believe makes a bassist both a strong individual musician and member of any rhythm section. While playing bass in my university’s jazz program as well as freelancing in bands during my undergrad, I worked to develop a strong rhythmic and harmonic foundation which I will use to guide our lessons, as these are important for any bassist whether they are playing alone in their bedroom or on a stage with a band! I have experience playing a wide variety of styles, ranging from jazz and bluegrass to rock, pop, and country.

Regardless of the style, my lessons typically focus on reinforcing a strong technical foundation and productive practice routine including, but not limited to, scales and arpeggios, rhythmic training, ear-training and theory, and reading (sheet music, tabs, and chord charts). I am prepared to work with my students on any bass ...

I have always wanted to play the cello but never had any musical experience. I was hesitant doing online lessons at first but that worry quickly ran away when I had my first online lesson with Jordi. Jordi was so welcoming and it made me excited for the next lesson to come! He is extremely patient and encouraging whenever I would mess up or get a bit nervous playing which helps my anxiety. I always learn something new from him every time we meet and he creates a clear plan on what to work on for my next lesson. He is an understanding teacher and tailors to your experience level and the kind of music genre you like to play. He is also very flexible with his schedule. I'm a senior in high school so I have many things on my plate but he's willing to make time fit mine and his schedule. I'm very thankful to have him as my cello teacher. If you're researching and contemplating which teacher you should choose, picking Jordi is the smartest choice! :)
William
My daughter loves her cello lessons and has made amazing progress. Jordi is both professional and relaxed which is a great combination.

Jordi was a Godsend when the pandemic hit. I had a life long desire to make music as well as listen and learn how to relax. He has far surpassed any of my expectations of an instructor. He is phenomenal. He teaches, he listens to my questions; He even anticipates my questions. His smile immediately says “I understand where I can help.” I am always eager to meet with him every week.

Each lesson is designed on the level of the student's ability from beginner to advanced. Rock, R&B, funk, jazz, blues, POP and country music. I like to use song learning as a vehicle to sharpen your skills. Learning skills through songs is more fun for beginners. More advanced students will work on everything from theory, reading, harmony; and how you can use scales and arpeggios in a number of ways over several different styles of music.

He is good!!!
I can play the very basic when I started but still need someone to help me to put everything together. He can diagnosis my level and design the learning plan for me when we first met. Lesson is fun and he always got something new/interesting to for students to work and practice.

Incredible and knowledgeable guitar instructor!

I just realized how important to have a teacher right in front me to guide and correct my fingers when I had my 1st class with Stephen. Just like everybody else, I took the online lessons for few months with other teacher and also learned from Youtube on my own in the last two years. I can play but I knew I was missing something.

He really brought me to the next level.
Katherine
Lesson was fun!!!!

I can play the basic chords before I met him. Stephen can oversee the problems and fix it when in the first lesson. I was like....WoW!!! He is a experienced guitar instructor. Impressed!!!

"There three major reasons why I am so happy with the classes:
1. Every session Roman manages to make me work really hard without any stress or pressure.
2. I only pay for classes but get much more: class supporting materials, various activities that are always very fun, homework, work sheets, grammar presentation etc.
3. I spent four years in school leaning French but could never speak it. After my third class with Roman I was already interacting with him using the language!"
