I've taught people who were just beginning violin (both children and adults) to students who were working on major concertos. What is most important to me as a teacher is building a strong foundation from which it is possible to branch out and connect emotionally with the music they play. I also strive to make performers out of violinists and to help them engage both audiences and themselves.

About Ha-eun

I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 20 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, perf

I got a great introduction to the instrument and the music theory from Ha-eun. She provides a lot of feedback, explaining in a number of ways so that you can understand the concept or your mistakes better. Also she is very friendly and super chill so don't worry about your age if you are just starting, it will be a lot of fun.

Ha-eun has been an amazing violin teacher. I played violin for several years throughout my childhood and then stopped playing for about 10 years before deciding I wanted to learn again. Having not played for so long, I wasn't really sure what I remembered or what my skill level was at.

Ha-eun has done a great job evaluating me and picking pieces that are challenging but still do-able. She is really friendly and encouraging and has made re-learning the violin an enjoyable experience.

For personal reasons, I have to take a break from violin for a little but when I re-start lessons, I will definitely pick Ha-eun as my teacher again if she is still taking students at that time!

She really knows her stuff when it comes to music and I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn violin.

My teaching style is very friendly and I have a great passion for teaching! I also like to guide my students on how to refine their playings by themselves and encourage them to form their own thoughts on the music, and I believe the ability to resolve problems without outside help is crucial not only in the music realm but also in real life, so it is a good place to train that skill too! Furthermore, I don’t limit my students and put them into a mold- I encourage them to embrace their unique ideas and embrace their individuality as part of their identity. I am confident that with my help, my students will not only fall more deeply in love with violin playing but also become more confident in performing. I have worked with students of all levels, so whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced player, I can promise you will get the most out of me.

About Chieh-An

Seeing the amazing progress of my students is always so encouraging to me. I always tailor my pedagogy approach to each student's needs. I aspire to inspire my students to love music as well as everything they do in life as I guide them on their musical journey.

Music has always inspired and motivated me. In my house growing up there was an old violin that sat in the corner of our front room, unplayed and untouched. My parents had bought it for my older sister with the little money they had from my father's fisherman wages. A month or two later it went back in its case and shoved in a place that was easy to overlook. 10 years later, I opened the case, found a teacher, and joined a beginner orchestra. 11 years later and I still find the violin as inspiring and beautiful as it was that first day. However, it wasn't always easy. Violin lessons were paid out of my own pocket, time was sacrificed for practice and eventually, an advanced violin was needing to be bought. Violin has always been a symbol of self sacrifice and motivation in my life.

These circumstances have become the foundation of the teaching methods I use for my students. The beginning of each lesson, we work together to create goals that stretch the student while keeping them ...

Hello! My name is Emmaleigh and I have been playing violin for 11 years and teaching for 4 years. I am halfway through my undergraduate course as an Education Major and spend my spare time at jam sessions, slack lining at the park, biking, and spending time with my husband. "Kendra has been tutoring one of my daughters for about 2-1/2 years, and tutored my other daughter for about 6 months. We have been extremely pleased with the progress they both have made working with Kendra. She is very good at identifying where a student needs to make corrections and does it in a way that is positive and easy to understand. She is excellent at helping students find their own voice - interpreting the music and infusing creativity and meaning into each piece. We really appreciate how she has individualized her teaching approach to each of my girls' needs and goals, and how she is always positive and enthusiastic about their progress. When Kendra moved out of state, we opted to continue lessons with her online rather than find a new local teacher because she has been (and continues to be) such a great instructor. I highly recommend Kendra as a violin/viola teacher."
