I learned ASL in high school as a second language. My college did not offer ASL classes, therefore, I taught others in my university's ASL club. I mentored students there to teach them vocabulary and engage in basic conversations. Aside from formal lessons, I also find it beneficial for my student's to use ASL to transcribe personal songs of theirs! This is the best way to combine vocabulary and grammar for ASL. Taught American Sign Language (ASL) full-time and part-time (nights) for 39 years, just recently retired from full-time teaching. I have primarily used Signing Naturally (SN) workbooks, all levels. I have also used Learning American Sign Language (LASL).

I have been using ASL since I was 4 years old and I have attended California School for the Deaf, Berkeley (Fremont) and Riverside.
