If you’re trying to decide whether to book a lesson with Andrew- do it. Seriously, you will not regret it. Finding a good music teacher is hard- just because someone can play doesn’t mean they can teach. Andrew is that rare combination of great musician and great teacher, and anyone would be lucky to learn from him. He’s knowledgeable, committed, prepared, and invested- I came to him with the goal of becoming a professional musician, and everything in my lessons has been structured with that goal in mind. He has a wealth of knowledge on everything from music theory to gear to life as a working musician, which he is always happy to share. I can’t begin to express how satisfied I am as a student and how grateful I am to be able to be taught by him. Plus, he’s just a really awesome guy. So really, go ahead and click the “book lesson” button. It’ll be the best decision you make in your musical journey- it’s definitely been mine.

I like to model my teaching method off of the teachers I learned the most from during my time at Berklee College of Music. I like to let the student’s interests and curiosity drive the experience. I think that everyone has a natural love for music and it’s important to keep that love in tact, especially for young students. This of course has to be balanced with essential skills regarding technique, guitar knowledge, and theory. My goal is to keep the student engaged in what they are learning and dedicated to continuing to learn more.

What I enjoy enjoy most about teaching is seeing people proud of themselves for learning something new. Music is a magical thing and learning how to make music is a rewarding experience (especially on guitar because it's an awesome instrument!).

I love guitar, so I like to help other people love it too.

About Greg

I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues.
You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard.
Have you hit a road block? I can help. Are you brand new and want to be sure you understand the instrument completely? I can help.

"Jimmy is the best. After learning to play the guitar on my own, he helped me correct many poor habits, and understand how to get a better sound. He introduced me to music theory, and helped me learn my way around the instrument. He breaks down very complex information and makes it understandable. I learned more from him in a few months than years of searching around the internet."

"Calling Ahmad was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I spent almost a year trying to "teach myself" how to play the guitar, mostly as a new hobby, with little progress and a lot of frustration. Ahmad has been my teacher for about 7 months, and it has completely renewed my interest in investing the time to learn to play. Ahmad is extremely patient, makes playing/practicing fun, and offers flexible scheduling (which is extremely helpful when balancing multiple commitments). I have nothing but great things to say about Ahmad. I would recommend him to anyone and will be continuing to take lessons here for a long time to come!"

"I used to play some guitar when I was young, but I had never taken any lessons. When I played with other guitarists, mostly in church settings, I would play simple cords and let the other guitarists cover up my mistakes. Now that I am 60 years old, I decided to make an effort at really learning how to play. I have only been taking lessons for 2 months, but Alex has been a great choice of instructors. He is familiar with the main type of music I like to play, contemporary worship music, and also is knowledgeable about Irish / Celtic music which I also love. He offers very helpful suggestions and instruction, and is very patient with the fact that I am 60 years old, and much of this, especially guitar tablature, is like learning a new language. Each lesson has some more insights and instruction to help me become a better player. I would recommend Alex to anyone looking for an instructor."
