Some people might fare better with this instructor. More chatting than instructing. Usually telling stories trying to sell himself and talk about how great he is. Delusional ideas about your relationship. Accusatory. Takes things personally. Burns bridges. Claims to be a vocal therapist but doesn't do any vocal therapy. Can provide bad advice and medical information.

This was my first piano lesson in 50 years. It was everything I hoped it would be... intellectual, fun, relaxed... and it filled me with hope that I could finally make something out of a musical instrument I left in the dust so many years ago. Jimi is wonderful to talk with and work with. This was beyond my expectations.

I’m 80 years old and play sax in a Senior band. I signed up for several lessons with Jimi Z. to improve my tone and breathing. I think Jimi did a great job with me, and I recommend Jimi for sax lessons. Dan Ginsberg

I have been teaching acting since 2013 and use a combination of tools and techniques from many of the well known acting theories. Through exploration, you will learn how to use the "acting fundamentals" (given circumstances, personalization, actions/tactics) to discover an honest connection to the script.

NOTE: All in-person students are required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

Confidence in acting is all about finding your own process, discovering the best things that work for YOU. Whether you have an audition you're working towards, a job you're preparing for, or you want to flex your acting muscle through new material, let's hash it out!

When I was cast as a supporting lead in an HBO show years ago, I had no idea what I was doing. I came from a theatre background and had never been on a set before - I learned by watching and asking the actors around me who had been doing it for years. Now, after nearly a decade in this business, I've found some things that help me that can hopefully help you. This should be fun! Feel free to check out my IMDB page for a more detailed overview.

About Meg

I graduated from Northwestern University where I studied Acting and Music Theatre. I have spent nearly a decade working in theatre, TV, film, and commercials. Credits include: HBO's Boardwalk Empire, Peacock's Mr. Mercedes, NBC's Mysteries of Laura, ABC's Nashville, and FX's American Horror Story.

Meg so great! She has real experience in tv and knows what it is actually like in LA.
Gabe
Meg is really smart at this stuff. She helped me tape an audition and I was very proud of the final outcome. She is so good at rooting you in the circumstances of the story, and enriches your performance with basic questions such as "What just happened right before this?", "Is it cold outside?" Sounds simple but makes all the difference, especially to those of us who have done this acting thing for a while. A seasoned actor herself, she has the natural eye of a director. Coach with Meg!!
Sarah
I was prepping an audition with Meg - she really gets what a scene needs and knows how to help you tap into that within yourself. I kept reading the scene one way and she helped me see how the scene functioned as a part of the episode (it was for a guest star) and required a slight emotional tweak ... her work with me landed me a callback. I am so grateful for her insight and for making every minute fun.

I coach students on their monologues so they can improve their auditions and self-tapes. I help them with monologue selection if needed, monologue breakdown, character breakdown, performance techniques, exercises, and much more. My students leave with not only an incredible monologue for auditions, but also a more in-depth understanding of acting and character work.

The theater techniques I use to teach acting and coach monologues include: Stanislavski, Meisner, Uta Hagen, and Michael Chekhov. I promote a positive and safe environment for actors to explore their character and creativity.

Julia has been teaching me for quite a while now and she has been the greatest teacher I have had. She has taught me so much in such a little amount of time. She makes me feel comfortable while acting, which I find is an amazing quality for a teacher. She also acknowledges how I feel on certain scenes and takes. She is definitely a great teacher.

"My daughter has been a student of Molly's for 3 weeks, now. From day one she has been the most energetic instructor we could have asked for. My daughter looks forward to the practice every week. After her lesson, she is so excited about the range of characters and the skills she's asked to display. Molly is very encouraging and always provides positive reinforcement. My daughter has been in several plays and has had issues with projecting and her confidence. I look forward to her next audition, as I believe Molly's instruction is providing the tools needed to be her best"

"Taking classes with Darius was tons of fun. Helped me through a few problems with a monologue I needed to learn and helped add another layer to it that I didn't even think of. I definitely recommend taking one of his classes as it'll help you reach into whatever piece you're working on and draw out something new for your character work and overall understanding of the play/film/show. if you're wondering whether you should do it or not, I say, take the class! In the long run, you'll be grateful for the help."

"Daniil worked with me on preparing multiple callback sides, both classical and contemporary. He is the kind of coach that has the specificity and honesty to push you beyond what you thought you were capable of, and to open your eyes to a new way of seeing your work. Daniil was able to connect my early experience with Meisner training to the sides that I had in front of me, in a way that was challenging but not scary. I left the session with a new handful of tools to prepare for the upcoming callbacks, and a new perspective on what it meant to reach honesty and authenticity as an actor."
