I'm sorry, I cannot handle this Instructor for my children. She wasn't me but she's not quite the people person I expected. Her personality is not a good match for a high school tutor. Unfortunately her English is not good enough. Her accent is entirely too strong. Also she does not know enough Geometry to help my kids.

First lesson and I've already learned how to teach myself one of my favorite songs (which I can now play a few hours after my lesson) and some helpful music theory!

My 16-year-old ---who had not practiced for over a year---is absolutely loving her lessons with Ms. Avenira! With only 3 lessons, I am now seeing the spark for playing the violin return to my daughter's eyes. Ms. Avenira is meeting my daughter "where she is" and truly customizing lessons to move her forward. She provides detailed updates for each lesson, and I could not be happier with my investment. Excellent teacher.
Michelle P.
Avenira really connected with my 14 year old, while our daughter has always been enthusiastic to learn an instrument, putting in the practice and the work has been a challenge in the past. Avenira's format, which allows flexibility for how the student learns best, is really working. My daughter has been practicing every night (unprompted by us), and is really excited abut her next lesson with Avenira. She also loves that she can learn both guitar and piano with Avenira, since she is interested in both. Avenira was very motivating, complimenting our daughter for being focused and for doing a great job during the lesson. Definitely would rate Avenira A+++++++!!

I started playing violin at 3 years old. Wichita State University gave me the opportunity to get my Music Ed degree and start teaching lessons. I have taken over 500 lessons myself and played in many heavy gigging bands playing gigs almost every weekend. Improvising, Country, Jazz, and Rock are my specialties but I have played lots of Blues, Funk, and Latin jazz as well.

About Rob

Make sure you contact me about scheduling. I have other students and a job that sometimes changes week to week. I may have other times available. Let me know.

Initially I was a complete beginner. I've been studying with Rob for a couple of months now. I think I'm making good progress and certainly a lot of that is Rob's doing. Very personable and flexible, he's really taught me a lot and is really good at teaching in a way that has me progressing steadily and not being overwhelmed by such a challenging instrument.
Jeff
great first lesson. Personable and informative.
Lin
Identified many of my errors right away, has given instruction on how to correct. Have noticed definite improvement each week, and given new skills each week to practice .(I'm not likely to pass this pattern in the near future!)

"My 11 year old daughter has studied with Jacqueline for 1.5 years and is really enjoying the process. Jacqueline is a kind and warm teacher which is very encouraging. My daughter wants to practice and improve in order to impress her sweet teacher. We are very happy with lessons with Jacqueline. She even teaches Disney music... not just the classics. She will look for whatever my daughter is interested in playing and then plays with her. I highly recommend her."

"Elisa is a great violin teacher. I'm proud to be her oldest student on record (I am approaching 75). I started playing just about three years ago all by myself. Then went to Elisa to see if I could make quicker improvements. She patiently corrected a lot of my bad habits and showed me the right way to practice. I was able to make good progress over times. She is fun to be with. Highly recommended for both young and old."

Why Are There Different Violin Sizes, and Why Does it Matter?

One of the main concerns that violin students and their parents typically have is purchasing the right-sized violin. Obviously you can't give a five-year-old a full-size violin and expect him or her to be able to handle the instrument. And once kids are in their teenage years, trying to keep up with growth spurts can be extremely difficult, especially considering how much violins cost. Even adults can run into problems when selecting the right size. Fortunately, after a little research, selectin …

Just like guitar strings, violin strings can stretch and break for various reasons. Sometimes they snap when you’re tuning your instrument, while other times, they may fly off whil …
