I have been taking lessons from Elizabeth since June of this year. She is an excellent teacher! Very patient, sets goals that are achievable but also push you to be better. I'm in my 60's and decided to learn to play violin now 3 months later I can really hear the difference in my ability. My journey is far from over but I know I have an excellent guide with Elizabeth. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn or increase their playing ability. Great teacher! Thanks!

This was my fist class, Elizabeth was very professional and her lesson was very informative. I look forward to my violin journey with her guidance.

Rely on my 15 years of music teaching experience to save you countless hours of bewilderment and frustration!

My journey as a musician which began at the age of 8 has now carried me to 48 states and a dozen countries, including 4 tours in continental Europe. I spent 7+ years performing, recording, and giving workshops with talented acoustic acts based in Nashville and the southeast. I am lucky to have been involved and contributed to a handful of IBMA and Grammy-nominated albums.

Increasingly, however, I turn my focus toward private teaching.
I find great joy and pride in helping a student reach their goals and surprise themselves with their own potential.

The combination of being a really nice guy and he knows what he's doing, makes having a lesson with Bryan enjoyable, informative and gives me the sense that I'm a better fiddle player when the lesson is over from when it started.

My first lesson was a real happy one, I was nervous and stressed about starting. Ms. Stephanie was very pleasant, explained things so I could comprehend it., she was strong in confidence yet happy in mild in teaching style. I’m very hopeful I will learn a lot from this brilliant teacher.

I am an adult beginner violinist. When I first met Stephanie, I had barely touched a violin, but I was determined to learn how to play it. With her help and patience, I am progressing through the Suzuki method as well as doing ear training and music theory. Stephanie is an excellent musician as well as instructor! Her method of teaching keeps the students engaged, encouraged and excited about learning music from all sides of it.

I strongly recommend Ms. Quinn. She is amazing. I love a teacher who is passionate about what she does and Ms. Quinn has motivated me to love the violin and work harder to improve. She is slightly strict but very patience and kind, always pushing you to work hard and do your best. I learned to play violin a few years ago as a beginner and stopped playing for a few years. I was nervous to begin online violin lessons considering that I learn better face to face. However, Ms. Quinn has done an amazing job at teaching me, I have been taking lessons with her for a year now and have learned so much I didn’t know before which has also grown my love for violin.

Want to learn bluegrass, old-time, western swing, country or Irish fiddling? With 18 years playing fiddle and 10 years teaching, I have the experience to help a beginner gain basic skills or an advanced student analyze bowing patterns, moving double stops, backup and improvisational skills and ideas and more. From the student who is picking up the fiddle for the first time to the fiddler who’s been playing their whole life, I hope to inspire a love for traditional fiddle music and culture.

About Cody

I was first inspired to play the fiddle by my grandfather, Tom Smith. Many of my cousins started learning traditional instruments around the same time and we had a lot of fun jamming at family gatherings and at music festivals in our home state of Indiana. In 2015 I was proud to carry the family tra

I was basically a beginner approximately 6-7 months ago. I’ve been taking lessons online with Cody every week this whole time. I honestly can’t believe how far we’ve progressed. Cody is a real professional with an immense amount of talent! 100% highly recommend!

Growing up and taking music classes I have always struggled with grasping the concept of music and instruments. Currently a college student with a busy schedule, Cody has helped me accomplish a lot with the time I have been taking lessons with him. Coming from never being able to grasp music to starting to play some songs and understanding theory more, progress has really shown. Learning from Cody will give you a fun, patient, and an exciting environment that will keep you wanting to learn more. Cody is extremely talented, very nice, and makes music easy! I would suggest if anyone would want to learn from the best, learn from Cody!

"My 13 year old daughter is a classical violinist and wanted to learn how to fiddle. We found Alani and after 4 lessons my daughter is fiddling! Alani has a patient way of teaching teenagers how to fiddle by making it fun. She sends us recordings of the song so my daughter can work on the piece during the week and we appreciate it! I highly recommend this artist! We are having so much fun!"

"Cindy is teaching me how to play Old Time fiddle tunes and technique in the cross tune of GDGD. I find her to be an instructor that is both process-oriented (providing information about the music background"what, when, who, why") and product-oriented (how to play/technique). She always begins lessons with a review from the past lesson and the homework provided that she records and sends to me. Her demonstrations are very clear and are at a rate and pace comfortable to me. She provides clear verbal cues throughout the lessons. Cindy is very strong in task analysis, breaking down each tune part, beginning with bowing. Her feedback throughout lessons is both positive-specific and corrective-specific. Every lesson is highly enjoyable and filled with encouragement. I am a retired college professor in teacher education, and I know about the constructs of what makes a high quality teacher - Cindy, demonstrates this to me. I feel fortunate to have Cindy as my fiddle instructor."

"The most honest and straightforward teacher

Kelvin's unparalleled enthusiasm for life and music shines through in his playing and teaching style. He shows a strong proficiency in many different styles and on multiple instruments.

He's reliable, experienced, professional, and a great guy all around. One of Kelvin's main strengths is his ability to convey a given subject matter in a way that is meaningful, constructive and easily understood.

I'm also a music teacher (private lessons and in the classroom) as well as a professional performer. I've found it to be a great pleasure working with Kelvin and I would strongly recommend him as a teacher and a performer."

"I have taken lessons with Cody for about 6 months and he has taken me from knowing absolutely nothing about how to play a string instrument to feeling capable of playing a few tunes and excited to play in a jam once things open up again. I especially appreciate that he introduced me to the music of female old time fiddlers like Brittany Haas and Tatiana Hargreaves, and helped me to better see myself in a musical space often saturated by men."

"I am so glad that I took lessons from Ashley! I had been playing for about a year and a half when I started my lessons in January of 2018. We had hour-long sessions once a week for about a year, but the time always felt too short! We usually learned about a song a week, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on how quickly I picked it up. Since I could already read sheet music, I mostly learned by ear, and Ashley did a wonderful job with slowing the songs down and helping me repeat them until I could play by memory. Now, I'm really glad I learned through ear training because it's an invaluable skill to have! I also really enjoyed playing harmony with her -- so cool. She always had songs hand-picked for me to learn, or, if there was a song that I really wanted to be able to play, she would help me with that one. Ashley is the best -- such a sweet, patient, and encouraging teacher! She even offered to have me play with her on stage! If you have the chance, take lessons from Ashley!!!"

What's the Difference Between the Violin and Fiddle?

Is that a fiddle... or a violin? It's a common question, and one that baffles many beginner musicians. So what's the answer? When it comes to the actual instrument, there actually aren't any differences. What distinguishes a violin from a fiddle is what kind of music you're playing with it. A musician playing folk, bluegrass or country, for example, would most likely refer to their instrument as a fiddle; those who play other genres (jazz, classical, etc.) typically call theirs a violin. …
