I am a full time musician and music teacher with over 20 years experience teaching guitar in one on one as well as group settings. I enjoy teaching all styles of music (especially jazz) and working with students of all ages.
I have founded and currently direct two Rock Band programs as well as teaching between 25-30 private students in my studio weekly. My students range in age between 6 and 73 years. I will create your lesson plan based on your goals and learning style. I can teach you standard notation, tablature or how to better use your ear. We can incorporate all three approaches. As your teacher I will guide you to having the most enjoyable experience you can learning guitar.
As well as guitar I teach beginner and intermediate ukulele and beginner bass. I also teach all levels of music theory. If a student is interested, a knowledge of theory is essential to understanding how songs are written as well as how to improvise.

I am Matias, a Spanish guitarist with a long professional career. I have obtained an Intermediate Grade in Jazz from the Madrid School of Creative Music (Spain) and a Bachelor of Modern Music from the Brussels Conservatory (Belgium).

In the last 10 years I have had the opportunity to live and train in five different cities (Madrid, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Bilbao and LA). In all of them I have worked professionally as a musician in various jazz and funk groups and as a teacher in several music academies and institutions (Brussels: European College; Buenos Aires: Orfeo Academy; Bilbao: Musicatulado, MasterClass Academy, Ms Music School).

I have more than 15 years of experience and an effective methodology developed over the years. But none of this would be important if we did not add an essential ingredient, the most important thing is that I love teaching!!!

I cannot learn something without wanting to immediately begin sharing what I know. That's what inspired me to begin teaching, and it continues to drive me today.

My credo is, "Take fun seriously." There is a reason we say that we "play" music; it is meant to be entertaining, for the listener and the performer. I know you want to learn to play an instrument so that you have one more pleasure in your life, and not to take up a new profession. But I also assume the highest potential in my students. If something is worth learning, it's worth learning well. My goal is for people to say to each other, "There seem to be a lot of good guitarists coming out of the Madison area. What's in the water?" My bottom line: Whatever your personal objectives, it is my job to discover them and help you meet them, whether you're interested performing at the campfire or the concert hall.
