Piano lessons are an excellent way to engage all parts of your brain while having fun.

My lessons include: note reading, technique, music theory, ear training, and musicianship.

Although I can teach a variety of genres, my specialty is in classical music.

Piano is the foundation for a strong music education. Our lessons can give you the tools to play your favorite songs or start you on the path to be a professional musician!

I've been teaching music for over 12 years and I am now developing a new method for learning piano based on my own experience in learning and teaching music. This method teaches piano technique in a creative, custom and exciting way. All lesson plans are created specific to each student to ensure students are getting exactly what they need to grow as musicians. Along with learning piano students will learn to read, write music and ultimately sight read music at the piano. I enjoy sharing the gift of music with with new students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

As a professional musician, I love sharing my passion of making music with others. Whether you are totally new to piano or a seasoned player wishing to brush up your skills, I can help you develop a more in-depth experience with piano. During lessons I emphasize skills such as correct note-reading, attention to details in the music, developing proper technique, critical thinking and listening, creative problem-solving, efficient practice, and exploring new repertoire. To encourage growth and consistent improvement, I recommend all my students to perform once or twice a year in my student recitals at Steinway Hall but this is entirely optional and based on the student's comfort level.

My music background:
- began training as a classical pianist in Asia at the age of 7
- certified as L.R.S.M. of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in 1989
- received superior-plus rating in National Piano Playing Auditions (collegiate classification)
- 16-year teaching experience in U.S.

Provide progressive training on finger techniques, fingering, pedaling, expression, music theory, sight reading, ear training;
Prepare for special assignments (accompaniment, play and sing, using music notation software, performance or enter National Piano Guild Auditions / ABRSM Exams etc.)
Fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese);
All ages and levels accepted.

My approach is fun, simple, and easy to understand. I focus on getting a strong foundation and excellent first experience with music. The child will be given a lesson and theory book to work from, but will also be encouraged to play music they personally like. This keeps the child motivated to play and adds an element of fun! These songs can then be used in our recitals, for auditions, or put in their personal repertoire book.
