Learn what makes your favorite songs so special with music theory lessons from an expert
Experienced guitarist/composer specializing in beginner and intermediate guitar, theory, and composition lessons. Every student learns differently, so we will discuss your goals and then craft a lesson plan that will best help you to get where you want to be! Whether working through chord progressions and melodies on guitar, expanding your understanding of the underlying music theory, or working to develop original compositions, we will methodically work through these concepts at a pace tailored to best suit your learning needs. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or are interested in beginning your musical journey!
About Aaron C.

I am a guitarist, percussionist, and composer originally from Maine and now based in the Boston area. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Southern Maine, where I also studied jazz guitar, and graduated with a Master of Music in Composition from the Longy School of Music, in Cambridge, MA, where I continued my jazz guitar studies. I've played guitar since I was very young, and perform various musical styles in different settings. Throughout middle and high school, I performed in numerous rock, blues, and jazz groups. In my undergraduate and graduate career, I played in the pit band for many musicals, as well as in contemporary classical ensembles. During and since finishing my graduate degree, I have performed in a wide range of settings, from jazz standards ensemble, to classical chamber groups, to new music and avant-garde settings, to pop cover bands. As a composer, I have likewise written in a wide range of settings, spanning from rock and blues, to jazz, to new music chamber ensembles and orchestras. I have been teaching private lessons to students of varying ages for three years now, from all different musical backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Prior to that, I tutored lower grade theory students during my undergraduate degree course. I primarily teach beginner-level students who are starting with a limited background on guitar, but have taught some who have no experience whatsoever, as well as others who have a fair amount of experience but are simply looking to get better. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to meeting you and discussing your musical future!
