Hello, I'm Alexis! I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Vocal Performance. During my time in school, I started teaching private piano and voice lessons and I found that I absolutely loved it. I've taught beginner and intermediate level pianists and vocalists, ranging between the ages of 5 and 78. While I was trained classically, I discovered that there is no right or wrong way to learn an instrument. Each and every one of us learns differently and a few of those ways include learning visually, by ear, kinesthetically or through reading and writing music. Through discovering my student's preferred methods of learning, I help them reach their musical goals. I have been studying piano and voice for 15 years and I have done a variety of classical, contemporary and jazz work. Before moving to Chicago, I obtained my Associate of Applied Arts Degree in Professional Music from the School for Music Vocations in Creston, Iowa. During my time in Iowa, I studied classical and jazz piano and voice intensively. I accompanied voice students on piano, performed in numerous ensembles and I toured throughout much of the US. Being a part of several vocal jazz groups, I opened for The Real Group and Accent. During my time at Columbia College Chicago, my musical focus turned towards performing contemporary music, such as pop, Indie and R&B. I focused more on writing and releasing my own music. It is never too late to learn how to sing or play the piano! Whether you're looking to start a new hobby, picking it up again after many years or looking for some extra help with these instruments at school, I'm here to help. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
