Teaching music is one of my passions. I value each student and the time I have with them; helping them to explore the world of music. After each lesson, my students walk away with a deeper understanding of music and have enjoyed their time. Music is a lifelong skill that can always be practiced and built upon. I can and have taught all age ranges. I am a husband and father. I received a BA in Music and have recently graduated with a Juris Doctor. I am a composer of music and have experimented with many music theory concepts. I composed for the Classical Guitar, Rock Band, various Classical configurations, and Jazz Ensemble. I like exploring concepts of counterpoint. I enjoy discussing concepts of improvisation and practicing with my students as they develop. I can teach improvisation in rock, blues, and jazz environments. I work through scales, arpeggios, phrasing, improvising over the melody and soul. I have played in various ensembles ranging from rock, jazz, and classical on both the guitar and bass. I can teach a student to follow a conductor, follow cues, and to use dynamics with an ensemble. *** Lesson Details *** I approach each lesson differently because every student is unique. During the initial lesson I will begin to assess the student's ability, determine the best teaching technique for them, and setup a practicing at home guideline. My job is to help the student reach their individual goals and support them along the way. I feel every student deserves to learn to read music, learn theory, and practice their ear. I will concentrate on these fundamentals as a student progresses as a musician. Lessons are currently taught in the students home or through an online format. There may be specific books and supplies I recommend purchasing (these will enhance the success of a budding musician). I work with the students to create song repertoire that the student finds enjoyable. *** Specialties *** I specialize in Classical Guitar, Upright and Electric Bass, music theory and music composition.
