BIOGRAPHY Born into a family of singers and dancers music is more than a study or pass time to me, it is a language and a way of life. I believe everyone is a musician at heart. Starting in my hometown of Portland, Oregon, my music career has taken me from Seattle to LA; and abroad to Haiti, Kenya, England, France. It is such an indescribable joy to connect with people around the world through music. I've performed in concert halls, symphonies, marching bands, pit orchestras, children's productions, restaurants, solo and ensemble competitions, even at Disneyland. In addition to my hobby of instrument maintenance, I've spent a number of years behind the scenes working stage production and harm reduction for many major events. I've been teaching friends and tutoring regularly since before graduating high school. This early start to teaching has lead me to a very dynamic approach to music education. I know what it takes to go from childhood lessons to lifelong music dreams. And this path is unique for everyone. Some people want to know all the math and science behind how music works, others just want to sing well to the radio. A lot of people don't always know. That's the beauty of musical arts, to listen and find that expression which speaks to you. What are you waiting for? Let's play some music. :) Have questions? Shoot me a message real quick. I'm more than happy to help point you in the right direction. (whether or not that's with me) ~~~ Life is music. There is rhythm in nature, tones of voice, being able to resonate with an idea. The most important aspects of our lives are governed by music; the birthday song, our ABCs, bedtime lullabies, graduations, parades, funerals, worship, movies... - life just wouldn't be the same without music.

This is the coach for me, hands down. Immediately felt comfortable and I knew I was under the care of a pro. She is great at running a diagnostic on your voice so you know where you’re at and creating a plan that feels appropriately challenging. Looking forward to more lessons!
First lesson and I've already learned how to teach myself one of my favorite songs (which I can now play a few hours after my lesson) and some helpful music theory!
My 16-year-old ---who had not practiced for over a year---is absolutely loving her lessons with Ms. Avenira! With only 3 lessons, I am now seeing the spark for playing the violin return to my daughter's eyes. Ms. Avenira is meeting my daughter "where she is" and truly customizing lessons to move her forward. She provides detailed updates for each lesson, and I could not be happier with my investment. Excellent teacher.
