👋 Hey there guitar aficionado! Ben Stubbs here, your Flamenco guitar go-to-guy. I want to show YOU HOW to PLAY the guitar...but more specifically, the Flamenco guitar. Let me tell you a little about myself, and then we'll get started with a plan for you! EDUCATION I hold an M.P.A. and a B.A. from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) in Public Administration (what does that have to do with the Flamenco guitar?); prior to that those degrees, I received an A.A. in Political Science (again, what does that have to do with Flamenco guitar?). The answer to the aforementioned question is that, I enjoy the discipline of the study of politics and government bureaucracies (I know…weird huh?). Nonetheless, I enjoy Flamenco most of all, and I want you to enjoy it too! Entonces…¡Vamonos! EXPERIENCE The guitar is a wonderful instrument, which I began playing at the age of six. I began my studies with the classical guitar for the first 15 years of playing; and for nearly the past 20 years I have been studying the Flamenco guitar exclusively—playing various concerts, events, and giving professional instruction; and I want to bring you along for the journey by showing you step-by-step how to play the Flamenco guitar! My experience as a guitarist in Southern California has led me to explore different genres of music, playing for various musical groups ranging from surf rock, concert bands, and jazz groups. As a co-founding member of the band, Ballistico, we opened up for acts such as the Del Tones, the Grandmothers of Invention (featuring members of Frank Zappa’s original band, “Mothers of Invention”), Avenged Sevenfold, and many others. EXPERTISE Having received first-hand instruction from the some of the most sought-after professional Flamenco guitarists living and working in Spain, I offer each of my students an unrivaled degree of authenticity in technique, tone, and style. You may have heard that learning the Flamenco guitar is an oral tradition... and this is true, but it is not a hard-and-fast rule. I am one of those guitar teachers who understands that learning by ear can be hard for some students--and that's okay! That's why I provide additional learning materials (described below). LEARNING MATERIALS Each lesson includes tablature (TAB) and/or standard notation, audio recordings of the lesson material, and practice tracks (when applicable). It is completely normal that only a day or two after a lesson—or even a few hours afterwards—the mind can (and will) quickly forget the material. Don’t worry! I’ve got you covered. By having the accompanying written and audio material with you after each lesson, you will be well-prepared for a successful next lesson!

The lessons were really well structured and I felt I was on my way to achieve my goals from the first one. Ben broke everything down into manageable chunks and built upon each lesson at the level that was right for me. He has a great teaching style and always makes you feel comfortable to ask as many questions as you need to. I feel I have learnt so much, not only for my flamenco playing, but knowledge and skills that I can use across the board with guitar. With Ben's help I was also able to learn how to play one of my favourite songs!
Ben is patient and a likeable instructor. He will challenge you but does so in a way that makes you want to demonstrate to him as well as yourself that you are learning and progressing. I feel good about my progress so far!
Ben's a great and knowledgeable teacher, always willing to answer whatever questions I have. I'm new to flamenco but have played other styles of guitar, and the lessons are really well-tailored for my experience level.
