I have played for years in many bands and enjoy all kinds of music. I started playing when I was about 18 and studied in Boston at The School of Contemporary Music. I practiced and played hard for 15 years in New York and Texas playing rock, blues and jazz. To start a family, I quit playing for about fifteen years. Now I've been back at it for about another fifteen years. I love going into the studio to create and perform. Performing live is great too because connecting with people through the language of music is a unique and fulfilling experience. I have been teaching in one way or another since I went to school and I'm looking forward to teaching online and in person with takelessons.com I'm a life long learner and excited to share my knowledge and experiences in music. I love my instrument the Bass Guitar and welcome all interested people from every walk of life to take lessons with me or anyone who is a good fit. I welcome beginner to intermediate students. My style of teaching is that I will meet you where your skills are, and teach you at a pace best suited to you. I am a patient teacher because I enjoy every aspect of the learning process. It is the bass that is particular to me for it's combination of tone and power. If you join a band or group as a bass player you will see instantly that we fill a very special spot in music. You will be the person who brings fullness and depth to the sound. To get started, join me here at Takelessons.com

I in the war rabbit started studying music theory and bass guitar with Bro in my 20s. I went from a beginner, to playing professionally in a rock band w/ only a few years training. He taught me theory, and how to apply it to the fretboard. Years later I am back studying with him again, learning classical music, reading, writing, he is right there to help me with playing Rock and R&B music, as well as the physicality of my playing style. Brilliant.
Mr. Betts is a phenomenal musician and teacher. He was able to help our students and adult guitar and bass players advance to a new level of musicianship. He truly understands how to help individuals and is able to give clear solutions to playing problems. He is very kind and calm in his approach but still has high expectations of his students. As a modern band director and music teacher here in Arlington I highly recommend Mr. Betts as he has also helped me with my bass playing.
Bro has an adept knowledge and understanding of music theory especially when it comes to chord construction and complex rhythms. Importantly, Bro has a way of making these seemingly complex concepts attainable and comprehensible for new musicians. I highly recommend that if you’re a bassist wanting to improve your technical skills as a musician to give a lesson with Bro a try.
