Versatile multi-instrumentalist and composer Ceren Türkmenoğlu creates and performs in traditional and cross-cultural collaborations around the world. A classically trained violinist, she studied in Turkey, Germany and the United States, and worked as a member of many prominent orchestras, including Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, National Arabic Orchestra, New York Arabic Orchestra. Her passion of reviving traditional roots and interconnectivity of diverse cultures through music and playing traditional instruments led to collaborations with the Silkroad Ensemble, she was featured in significant musical events such as Harvard University’s Arts First Festival and ArtLab Residency. For her own project, “Music from Where the Sun Rises”, which examines Turkish Classical Music through a historical lens, Ceren was twice awarded The Boston Foundation’s Live Arts Grant and invited to perform in notable institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, TUFTS University, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Her later project, “Strings from Around the World”, explored diverse world cultures through their traditional string instruments. Her debut album, “Mâî”, was released July 2021, featuring her world music compositions and arrangements.
