Physics makes sense with a certified science teacher with over 26 years as a public school teacher
I am a NJ Certified Science Teacher with 26 years public school teaching experience. Since retiring, I found I absolutely love online tutoring, and my students look forward to their lessons with me. I build their confidence and understanding. As a professional teacher, I know how to uncover the difficulties specific to each individual and guide them toward success. Rather than just explaining a concept to them, I lead my students with questions and examples so they can solve it themselves. With true understanding, grades naturally improve. I am especially good at teaching how to solve word problems. My online equipment includes a laptop with webcam, 2nd monitor, 4K document camera, headphone/mic, and iPad (if you also have a tablet, we can use it as a collaborative, real-time whiteboard, much superior than the whiteboard provide by Zoom). I can also show you how to use your phone as makeshift document camera, so I can see what you are writing.
About David L.

After over 26 years as a certified public school teacher, I retired from the New Jersey Educational System. In my retirement, I discovered I absolutely love tutoring one-on-one. My philosophy is “Find the challenges a student is facing, then find the way through them.” Besides knowing the subject matter, I really know how to teach. Each student is an individual, with different learning styles. My teaching style is not to just explain a concept, but to lead the student to be able to explain the concept in their own words. My goal is to guide you to true understanding rather than merely remembering. This is our path to success. With my patience and guidance your grades will naturally improve. I am especially patient with special needs students. My nickname in college was "Calculus Dave”, given to me by the classmates I was providing impromptu tutoring. After receiving my B.A. in Biology from Temple University, I continued with graduate studies in Neurobiology at Cornell University. I received my New Jersey teacher certifications in Elementary Education, K-8 and Comprehensive Science, K-12 from Rowan University College of Education I have taught middle school science & high school Biology, Chemistry (including AP Chemistry), and Physics. As well as writing curriculum for science classes, I created and wrote curriculum for Computer courses in Middle school, which I taught for many years. I have also been a math tutor since 1996. I also received a Level 2 kayaking certification from the ACA. After providing free introductory and intermediate kayaking lessons through my kayaking clubs, several people came up to me and asked me if my profession was teaching. When I replied, "Yes, why?", they responded with "It shows". I couldn't receive a better compliment. I am here for you. Let’s find those challenges and overcome them. Besides kayaking, my personal interests include building computers and writing software, traveling, and astrophotography.
