I am the award winning concert pianist, piano educator and composer. I have studied and performed in the U.S., Korea, and Europe. I earned my Doctorate in Piano Performance from Arizona State University, Masters in Piano Performance from New England Conservatory and Bachelors from University of Michigan. I was the recipient of the Excellence in Piano Performance Award (created especially for me) at the University of Michigan for the first time in their history of piano department and I won many awards in piano competitions. I have a great passion for performing and teaching both classical and modern music. With many successful years of performing and teaching, I have taught over 30 years privately and music classes at Elite Piano Academy and a few universities ranging from beginner to doctorate and professional levels. I customize individual piano lesson based on each student's interest, strength, learning ability and goals for the most optimal musical learning experience. My students will also learn to love and enjoy playing piano music while they build a great foundation of excellent piano technique, music theory and exceptional performance preparation. They will also discover the joy of learning piano music as they gain great confidence through creative, fun, individual and excellent musical learning environment. I LOVE to teach classical and modern piano music as well as creative improvisation of traditional and contemporary worship music and accompanying. My students have won many competitions, awards and become professional musicians. It is my great joy to teach students of all ages and all levels and continually inspire them to reach their full musical potential! I look forward to meeting you and helping YOU to be the pianist you have always wanted to be.

I am an adult learner and I have taken lessons with Deborah for almost a year and a half now. I started as a complete beginner, and with a lot of time, dedication, encouragement, and patience (both from her and myself), my skill level has improved greatly. She teaches you the technical aspect of playing piano while also teaching the creative aspect. She shows you how to play with passion. The best teachers have the experience, passion, and strong communication & listening skills. That being said, I highly recommend Dr. Deborah to anyone interested in playing piano, regardless of skill level.
Deborah is such a wonderful teacher. She is warm, caring, encouraging, resourceful, positive, and effective in every way of her teaching. No matter what issues or technical problems that I have, Deborah has just the right solutions for me. I was having difficulty with technical requirement for a piano examination. With her help, I am gaining competence and confidence in my piano playing week by week. Deborah is a powerful teacher, and I always feel renewed and empowered (toward piano learning) at the end of each lesson. If you are looking for a piano teacher, I recommend that you give Deborah a try.
I started taking piano lessons as an adult for the first time a few months ago. I'm really anxious and self-conscious about mistakes, but Deborah makes it feel totally okay and is extremely encouraging. She naturally adjusts to my learning speed and takes care to spend extra time when I struggle with something. I especially enjoy learning music theory (and even music appreciation!) alongside learning to play, it makes for a very complete and well-rounded learning experience. Deborah makes learning comfortable and fun, if you're looking for a teacher who is not only passionate about piano but also about their students, then I couldn't recommend her more!
