My name is Eric. I have a Bachelors degree in Physics with a minors in Mathematics and Writing. I spent three years as a graduate student in Physics at Vanderbilt University. I then taught high school Math and Physics for six years at Walden School in Louisville KY. As a teacher, I found that each student learned the material in their own way; there are as many different learning styles as there are students. This means, of course, that an effective teacher must be flexible in their methods. In my opinion, the ability, and willingness, to meet the student on their level, and a thorough understanding of the subject, are what make for a good teacher. I taught both AP Physics and AP Calculus for many years and all of my students passed with a 3 or higher; some years every student received a 5. I have a passion for math and physics and I am excited to share what I know. I can tutor any undergraduate physics course and any related math course (calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and numerical analysis for example), as well as formal or symbolic logic. My focus is on AP Calculus and AP Physics. I taught these courses for many years and so I am familiar with the format and subject matter of the test. I can make sure students are directing their efforts in the right topics, prepare them for the type of questions they will see on the test, and give them test taking tips based on how the exam is graded. When I was a teacher, More than half of my students received a 5 on their exam. I have been tutoring, on and off, since my undergraduate days, over 20 years ago. I like the 1-on-1 format because it allows me to really tune in to the way my student is responding to the lesson. I will work with students, parents, and other educators to structure lessons that meet the varied needs of different students. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a free consultation.
