Oboe Lessons
Oboe has been my passion since I was 12 years old. I am originally from Kansas City, MO. However, I currently reside in Tallahassee, FL and am in my fourth year of pursuing my Bachelors in Woodwind Performance at Florida State University. I have numerous years of performance experience and have three years of teaching experience. My goals are to help younger students have the solid foundations required to be successful at playing the oboe. Working on breath support, technique, and even reed making. Switching to oboe from another instrument can be especially difficult, and all of my teaching experience is with students who have switched. I currently, play in a local church orchestra, aside from my school ensembles. Additionally, I have played in community orchestras, as well as a few pit orchestra jobs, and some Christmas church performances. I look forward to sharing my knowledge with anyone and everyone. The oboe brings a lot of joy into my life, and I hope to share that passion with others.
About Gennavieve W.

Hi! Welcome to my studio! I have been studying oboe for a little over ten years. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Woodwind Performance from Florida State University. I will graduate in 2022. After that, I plan to get my Master's. I hope you will enjoy being in my studio! Oboe can be a complex instrument to learn, and I want you to understand it with the least amount of stress. I'm passionate about making the experience fun, enriching, and exciting! I'm comfortable teaching beginning to intermediate oboe students, and I also make my reeds, and if that's something you become interested in, we can talk about that. I teach online, from my home, through Zoom. This helps me have more time each week, and I also think students are more comfortable playing in an environment they are used to. Technology can be unpredictable, but I've had plenty of experience troubleshooting and fixing problems. I will do everything in my power to make sure you have the best lesson!
