I earned my Master’s degree from Northwestern University where I appeared in numerous operas and premiered several works by contemporary composers. As the Assistant Artistic Director of the new music coalition, NONop, I searched for new and exciting multimedia performances practices and directed and developed various productions. I have worked with musicians from diverse backgrounds from opera to pop to jazz to metal, and I love helping each student find their unique voice and achieve their musical goals. I want my students to work on music they are passionate about. As a professional teacher with Flatts and Sharpe for three years, I personalized each lesson to the unique needs and personalities of each students. I am attentive to the emotional states of each student and utilize a balance of observation and adaptability in teaching lessons. Each student is unique, so getting to know them is paramount to making their lessons both fun and fulfilling. Even after working with the same student for years, I’ve learned to never settle into an expectation of what a lesson will be, as each day brings out different facets of their personality. I have learned to excel at flexible planning, creating a lesson plan around the trajectory we’ve been pursuing, but ready to alter my expectations if they bring something new to the table that day. The most important aspect of my teaching is getting to know my students. By doing so, I can find the best way for them to explore the amazing world of music. It's important to set realistic goals for students so that they can always progress but also be excited about each victory along the way. Half of each lesson will be spent on technique through warm up exercises, which we will then apply to songs. At the end of each lesson, a goal will be set for the next lesson and we will discuss particular elements to focus on for that week.

Such a nice, fun teacher! Very knowledgeable too!
My daughter Julia had her 1st lesson with Harrah tonight, and Julia absolutely loved her! She's so excited for her next lesson :)
Harrah is so supportive and explained singing in a way that really made sense to me! I always felt comfortable and was not afraid to make mistakes. Her encouragement motivated me to pursue my interest in singing and I'm so grateful I had her as an instructor!
