Turn your passion into a career with trumpet lessons from an experienced professional.
My teaching style is focused on student growth and my expectations as the instructor are adjusted for the students' goals. I believe that for growth to occur that I get to know the students so that I can find the most relatable way to help them improve their playing and understanding. Anyone that studies with me, will not only get individually tailored lessons, but individual exercises (as needed), and quick responses through email at anytime between lessons with questions or concerns. I am an active trumpet performer, conductor, clinician, and educator in the North America and Asia. I earned a Master of Music degree at the University of Arizona. I also received a full scholarship to complete his first year of Doctorate of Musical Arts degree. My experiences as a music educator span all ages and ensemble types, including private lessons and concert bands from public school through university levels. I was a band director at Sidney High School where he taught concert band. Under my baton, the concert band won first place at the Nebraska School District Music Contest in 2017 and 2018. As a performer and clinician, I was invited to perform at many music festival including World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) conference, WMC Kerkrade, and Jeju International Wind Festival.

Hong is a gifted, professional musician and a dedicated, patient teacher. Our 9 year old enjoys his trumpet lessons with Hong and has come far since he started working with Hong in less than a year. Hong challenges him while providing constructive feedback and encouragement. We feel very blessed to have found Hong and would highly recommend him.

I am a beginner and I took Hong’s lessons for a month. He is a very patient teacher with much passion on his own instrument. With his knowledge about trumpet, I am inspired every lesson with a new technique and tips to overcome challenges. I enjoyed every lessons so far.
