Hi there! I'm Ila, and I am a professional singer and actor active in the local theater scene. I have degrees from the University of Washington in both Music and Speech and Hearing sciences, so I love using my educational background to spread more information about good, healthy singing! I have a deep knowledge of the technical aspects of singing, so students can expect to have warm-up exercises tailored to their individual needs, as well as opportunities to learn to perform full songs. There are some fundamental ideas that apply to all singers, but my goal is always to help build your confidence in your unique voice while gaining a foundational understanding of healthy singing. I also specialize in theatrical performance and understanding the importance of acting while singing, and in using song as a storytelling device. I studied classical singing in college, then left Washington to perform at Walt Disney World as a character performer, and then as a parades and shows performer. I then went on to perform musical theater professionally, and have now moved back to Washington and am involved in the local theater and classical music scene. I have a deep passion for musical theater, but I also love teaching all styles of music! I am well versed in classical singing, contemporary styles, and choral/gospel singing as well.
