Always wanted to learn to play piano? Now is the time! My name is Jerry S. and I am an experienced, patient, gentle teacher, with over 20 years teaching and performing experience. As a performer, I have shared the stage with such recording artists as Herbie (Watermelon Man) H., Mary Wells, Jessie Colin Young, Greg Khin and Linda Cotton, among others. For almost 20 years I worked in various bands and traveled extensively across the western United States while living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am a certified teacher with a B.A. in Music Education from Elmhurst College, IL and studied jazz piano with Mark Steidel and Susan Muscarella at U.C. Berkeley, CA. I taught music at Westchester Elementary School in Westchester, IL and Jane Addams and Lincoln Schools in Melrose Park, IL. I have been teaching privately since 1990. I teach all aspects of piano pedagogy: reading, theory, harmony, chord vocabulary, technique, ear-training. I work very well with children and beginners, but also cater to older students. I live in Goodlettsville and I can make your life easier by travelling to your home. My rates are very reasonable. I am also available for performances, everything from weddings, parties, corporate events, restaurants, etc. I play a variety of music from jazz standards to pop songs; perfect for creating a comfortable and classy atmosphere.
