I am a professional educator currently working as a self-employed online tutor. After a few years as a classroom math teacher, I transitioned to being a full-time tutor. Over the past seven years, I have tutored 500+ students for more than 10,000 hours in a wide range of subject areas. My specialties are mathematics (anything from elementary level to that of a college freshman), test preparation (SAT, ACT, GED, ASVAB, GRE), and writing (development and editing of essays and papers). Since I don't "go to work" for a predetermined time each day, I can meet students based upon their schedules. Preparing for a test means more than just being familiar with the subject material: improving one's score also requires the right test-taking skills, such as pacing, eliminating incorrect responses, strategic guessing, and alternative strategies. Although I was a certified teacher have a Master's degree in Secondary Education, I feel my biggest assets are my tutoring experience and my ability to connect with students. Summer is the perfect time to prep for the SAT or ACT and work on college application essays, as there is no burden of regular schoolwork to deal with. It's also a great time to get some extra help for the next school year: whether a student is a little behind or just wants to get ahead, summer is the time to get the necessary instruction. When the school year is over, I continue to work through the summer, meeting students' needs for online courses, test preparation, or simply brushing up on skills.
