I just completed by Bachelor of Music with an Emphasis in Commerical Music and am currently pursuing my teaching license! This means that I have experience in way more than just classical music (although that is my specialty). I began playing flute in sixth grade, and I have been in love with music and music education ever since. I want to share that joy with my own students, because music makes life so much better! My students can expect to gain a well-rounded foundation in both flute playing and music in general. I love delving into other instruments, genres, and fields of music. I especially enjoy studying the violin, voice, jazz/commercial music, music technology, music-related science, and business. I have had the great pleasure of studying under amazing private instructors such as Margie Halling, Elaine Jorgensen, Christina Castellanos, Susan Huff, and Kathy Hunter. Since learning flute, I have participated in groups such as wind bands, symphony orchestras, pit orchestras, chamber ensembles, commercial music groups, and choirs. I rely on all of this experience when I teach! I am dedicated to teaching and giving individual attention to students. I do not believe in viewing teaching as a side gig. I give my full self to teaching my students and spend time outside of lessons preparing, organizing, and researching to help my students excel. This means my students get the personalized instruction needed to progress quickly. I have several years of teaching behind me. For the last few years, I have adored my jobs tutoring physics, teaching flute at a local middle school, and teaching private flute students. As a music education student, I also have a strong background in modern teaching methods and techniques. I love applying these in lessons to help students learn more efficiently than they would with teacher without education training. In the future, I plan to teach at the high school or middle school level and maintain a studio of private flute students. Outside of work and school, I love spending time with friends and family, reconnecting with my heritage, attempting to cook with my husband, and learning about other cultures.
