I am a classically-trained guitarist and highly advanced Spanish-speaker with passions for music and cultural exchange. I want to share my knowledge and experiences with others so that they can find joy and confidence through these things too. I started learning guitar at 14, through informal lessons with family, jam sessions with friends and YouTube tutorials. I earned my Associate's Degree in Music at Frederick Community College, where I took Classical Guitar lessons and participated in Jazz Band ensemble. I transferred to University of Maryland, Baltimore County to study Classical Guitar Performance. In the music program I studied music theory, music history, performance techniques and various pieces of Classical repertoire. My most accomplished moment during my study of classical guitar was my Junior recital, in which I performed 11 pieces in the music hall of my university! My favorite styles to play are classical and acoustic. I enjoy learning about the history behind the classical pieces I play and the unique timbre of a classical guitar. I also like singing and playing acoustic, pop, singer/songwriter styles. I started studying Spanish in eighth grade and took classes all throughout high school and community college. It wasn't until I changed my major to Spanish at UMBC that I invested into developing my language skills. I took courses on Spanish language, the histories and cultures of Latin America and Spain and Spanish Literature. I also worked as a Spanish tutor at the university's tutoring center. I studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain for a summer and it was the best learning experience for language practice and cultural engagement! I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Modern Languages, Linguistics and Intercultural Communication - Spanish in December 2018. One of the most rewarding things for me about speaking Spanish is building connections with other people. By learning another language, you open yourself up to the world and to other people. You can learn from so many different people about their culture, their values and their way of life from the way they express themselves. Learning about the diversity of the world this way is beautiful and interesting. My hope is that through lessons, we can work towards your music or language goals, whatever they may be, and that you have fun and find excitement throughout the process. I look forward to meeting you!

Kaye is patient, engaging, and encouraging. She gives simple yet thorough and effective explanations. She will emphasize concepts where you are weak until they are fully mastered. Also, at each lesson she always asks “Do you have any questions? Feel free to contact me at any time.” I can confidently recommend her to anyone who is interested in beginning to learn the guitar or anyone who is seeking to advance their current skills. She is truly a delight to work with!
Kaye is a great instructor! She pays attention to her student, is very detail oriented and is very patient. She goes at your pace, while still challenging you. I've enjoyed my lessons thus far and am looking forward to more lessons!
Very knowledgeable and helpful, I went from picking up a guitar for the first time to learning chords and songs really quick! Lessons were also adjusted based on ability and progress, providing good pacing.
