Learn to play the piccolo in all of its glory with an experienced and knowledgeable instructor
Generally students will learn the flute first before they play the piccolo. Once they are proficient enough on flute, then (if they have the interest) they will begin to learn the piccolo. Learning the piccolo can be great for playing in ensembles like marching band, concert band, and orchestra. Personally, I always loved playing the piccolo in marching band because it is the lightest instrument and louder than the flute! Playing piccolo in an orchestra can be a little scary at first because it is such a noticeable instrument and you want to sound good (and in tune) if you are going to stand out! Some students also might choose to play a piccolo piece for a performance for Solo and Ensemble Festival, for example. In your lessons we will talk about some of the same things in a flute lesson, but will also go over the differences between both instruments. One thing to keep in mind if you are interested in continuing your flute studies, is that half of the auditions you will come across are for 2nd flute/piccolo. So lessons on piccolo are a great way to start preparing for your future as a professional flutist!
About Kelly M.

I'm a flutist and flute instructor in the North Atlanta area. My home studio is in Acworth (near Woodstock), Georgia where I teach flute lessons. I play Principal Flute and am the Executive Director of the Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra. Lessons: My teaching philosophy is grounded in the idea that you don't have to be perfect, you just have to try. Each one of us has something unique hidden inside waiting to be expressed through music and my job is to draw that out and give you the confidence to share it with the world. With each student I hope to ignite a spark of passion and curiosity for music to carry with you throughout your lifetime. I have been teaching since 2005 to students of all ages and levels. I currently have students all across the US and have taught online as far away as Hawaii, Italy, and India! She was very helpful from the start and guided me through my music, teaching me new techniques and practice tips along the way! 10/10 highly recommend!

Kelly has been my daughter's flute instructor for three years and everything has been great. She is patient and inspiring to a young middle school student who has been reluctant to practice. I can not recommend her enough.
