Hello, my name is Kristy Orlando, and I am a graduate of The School of Visual Arts in New York City. My degree obtained is a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and a minor in art education. I have over 25 years of teaching experience in the educational field, including different subjects and grades. I was a fulltime art teacher in the public school system. My passion is to share my love of art with my students. I love creating fun lesson plans which engage students in learning about different artists as well as the skills taught to create art. I also have some great lessons involving museum studies which looks at art exhibitions and events in the greatest art museums. I believe that teaching my students about famous artists gives them knowledge and inspiration to see how others have communicated their visions though their art. I love showing students how there are endless types of materials that can be used to create special effects and multimedium works. I am a very patient, supportive, flexible, and an easy-going person who likes to have fun while learning new things. My teaching philosophy is to let kids express themselves, and to let students explore and discover through mistakes, trial and error and problem solving. I believe if fun is the first ingredient, then students will learn in any subject. Art is for everyone, and it is my pleasure to explore with you.
