Hi I'm Matthew, an experienced Korean teacher with a 4 year degree in Korean from Brigham Young University. I also have three years of broad experience living, working, and doing volunteer work in South Korea. I excel at simplifying Korean grammar and helping students quickly accelerate from beginner to intermediate, and intermediate to advanced. I am a strong partner for accountability in your own individual study and am also an excellent conversation partner. And if there's something I don't know I can always ask my beautiful South-Korean wife, Eunjeong.

TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) Level 5
Jul 2018Korean National Institute for International Education (NIIED), Ministry of Education.
Received 92/100 on listening (average score 58.3) 84/100 on reading (average score 54.82) but had some trouble with writing at a 38/100 (average score is 36.01). My total score was 214/300 giving me an advanced level 5 score, just short of achieving level 6. Level 5 is defined as "High fluency in using the Korean language in professional research or work. Understanding and discussing less unfamiliar topics in politics, economics and other fields. Usage of appropriate expressions, distinguishing formal and informal, written and spoken, by context." Preparing to take the test again to achieve level 6.
