Learn guitar fundamentals and improv theory with music student and gigging guitarist
I've been playing live music for over 4 years in jazz/fusion and bluegrass groups, and am currently a guitar student at the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media. I teach guitar fundamentals such as proper left and right hand technique (strumming/picking), notes on the fretboard, and basic chords. I specialize in improvisational techniques, and can teach to utilize basic and advanced theory concepts in a live setting. My strongest genres are blues, fusion, rock, funk, and bluegrass, but I'm more than happy to help you learn whatever it may be that interests you!
About Nathan H.

Hello! I'm a lead/rhythm guitarist and vocalist. I currently play in 3 bands. I co-founded The Family Recipe, an instrumental jazz/fusion/rock group in Athens, GA in 2017 and we've since released four studio albums and EP's. I also co-founded the Afternoon Raccoons which is a traditional bluegrass group which has also released a full studio EP. My guitar upbringing was based on blues and rock improv, and has carried over into my love for funk, jazz, and fusion. I care deeply about guitar tone, amps, and pedals, and have much to say about what I believe makes a guitar player truly sound great whether it be on acoustic or electric. I love to discuss the intricacies of live music and how to the best player you can be no matter if it's on stage or at home with your friends. I'm currently studying at the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media to receive an Associate degree in Applied Science in Music and Technology. I'm eager to share my knowledge from both school and personal experience and help aspiring musicians find their passion. Music is magic and I want to do all I can to bring that to the world!

Nathan is a phenomenal guitarist and instructor! He has a great sense of musicality and has helped me feel more confident with performing in front of others. I would recommend him to anyone looking to pick up the guitar or work on improv skills!

I was really nervous to even attempt picking up guitar, but Nathan has made me feel extremely comfortable and capable from the get go. Being someone with very little experience (actually basically none), Nathan has taught me key concepts and explained things in ways that stuck with my non musically inclined brain! I really recommend him for beginners and will continue to take lessons from him!

I have only had a couple lesson with Nathan and he has completely changed the way I approach the guitar. Not only has he made the process less intimidating, but he has made it so enjoyable and creative. I highly recommend him for all ages and levels of playing!
