Samantha has been teaching private flute lessons since 2012 and is currently available to teach lessons virtually, in home, or at her home studio. Students in Samantha's studio have been admitted to all-state bands, all-county bands, given superior rated solo and ensemble performances, college scholarships, and more. Samantha received her training at Troy University where she received a bachelor's degree in Music Education. During her time at Troy University, she studied classical flute with Ms. Carol Franks and Dr. Heather Small. During this time, Samantha was a part of the school's top ensemble. She also frequently performed professionally in the area. She is currently studying to receive masters credits and the National Virtual Teachers Association Certification from Adams State University and continues to study and perform classical flute in the Pensacola area. Although trained in traditional education methods, Samantha has developed her own style of teaching that blends these traditional methods with content focused on the student's goals, interests, and preferred learning styles. In addition to teaching private flute lessons, Samantha teaches general music at a virtual public school to students from grades kindergarten to fifth. I was apprehensive at first about doing flute lessons online without any background in Western Music Theory, and not even knowing how to make any sounds on the flute. Samantha helped guide me through a structured series of lessons building upon music theory and notation as well as helping with the basics of hand placement and creating sounds. She also helped me to learn new notes, scales and chords progressively, and pushed me to achieve far more than I would have been able to on my own in such a short span of time. She was also really good about being flexible and accommodating to find a time that would suit us both for lessons, and was always punctual and on time for every session. I would highly recommend her as a teacher!
