Practical troubleshooting is the main driving force behind my lessons. As a coach, I often meditate on the following questions: (1) How do we make sounds and communicate with speech and song? (2) How do we convert 2D symbols (text) into a 3D body (performer) and create a 4D emotional experience (audience)? (3) How do we use these skills to live more freely, intentionally, and expressively? I hope to instill an appreciation for and a desire to answer these questions. As I continually train to be a useful coach, I hope the students that I meet will continually learn to be useful artists. My main goal as a teacher is to share my knowledge and experience in a personalized way so that my students no longer need me to reach their goals, that they are able to teach themselves, and that, ultimately, they become fellow collaborators and troubleshooters. ***Please contact me to check my availability if you do not see a time that fits with your calendar.*** Professional Memberships: NYSTA (New York Singing Teachers Association), NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), VASTA (Voice and Speech Teachers Association), Voice Foundation

SD isn’t your usual vocal coach, she is a guide who helps you find your voice and and shows you to have lots of fun doing it. She has very helpful techniques, suggestions and practices that help you correct your technique. She’s a fun person and I love her energy. She’s very into teaching with philosophy which I love. Can’t wait for the next lesson!
SD is really one of the best and coolest instructors I've worked with. I really wanted to find a vocal coach who could help me prepare for a performance and break down what I needed to correct. After the first visit, I already noticed a difference! That's how I knew SD was a great vocal teacher- she listens, she cares and wants you to succeed! Truly one of the best vocal coaches in NYC! Thank You SD! 😀🎵
I have loved working with SD. I grew up as a concert dancer and was interested in transitioning into the musical theater world, and SD helped me make it happen! She is wonderful at explaining difficult concepts in a way that “non-singers” can understand and implement. I always feel comfortable working with SD and leave every lesson with more tools to use for both auditioning, and for just singing along with my guitar. She helps you discover parts of your voice that you didn’t even know about - skills you didn’t even know you have! Lessons with SD are both fun and productive, the perfect combination. 10/10 would recommend!
