Learn cello with a professional cellist and experienced teacher - all levels welcome
I am an experienced teacher and professional cellist, excited to meet you and learn about how we can work together to fulfill your musical goals. I am equally comfortable working with kids and adults, as well as beginners or advanced students. I previously taught a wide variety of students in the Greater Boston area, including teaching positions at the Marblehead and Salem School of Music (individual lessons), and as string teacher at the Cape Ann Waldorf School (conducting the middle school orchestra, teaching 4th and 5th grade string ensembles, leading cello sectional classes, and teaching individual lessons). I have been performing in Los Angeles for several years and am now ready to open my studio to new students - feel free to reach out if you would like to connect further or have any questions!
About Simon L.

I have performed solo recitals for PBS Philadelphia, Rutgers-Camden Noontime Recital Series, as a guest performer for the Network for New Music at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, and as a soloist with the Salem Philharmonic and the Symphony by the Sea chamber series. I am a co-founder of Strange Interlude with harpist Lily Press, an ensemble focused on intimate salon-style concerts with programs that are carefully curated to include seldom-performed works, pieces by contemporary composers (including newly-commissioned works) and transcriptions and arrangements for our unique instrumentation. I have performed with Strange Interlude at venues and concert series including ArtShare LA, Spectrum NYC, Northeastern University, Endicott College, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Seattle's Erikson Theater, the Advent Library Chamber Series, the Nave Music Series, and the Candlelight Concert Series. I have collaborated with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Richard Wernick, and have recorded music for video games and TV shows, including Final Fantasy XV, Made in Abyss, and games from the Resident Evil and Monster Hunter series. I have also played music for events for the Kennedy Center and Sony Cinema Line, among others. I received a Master of Music in Cello Performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Haverford College, and earned a Teaching Artistry certification from Longy. In addition to teaching music, I have also worked as a daycare teacher at several NAEYC-accredited schools.
