As I mentioned before, I am a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology with over 15 years of bench experience and 20+ publications to my name. I strive to make sure my students grasp the concept at hand before moving on to the next topic (as they tend to build upon one another). Personally, I enjoy music (play the Sax and a little guitar and piano). I played Rugby in college and for a few years after (bad knees) but enjoy watching International Test matches when I can (as well as Duke Basketball). I like to use analogies to help make biological concepts clearer and will try and cater them to the specific student when I can (maybe a sports or music analogy when applicable, but not a pop culture reference from after 2000 - I'm a bit to old to keep up on those). Basically, I want you to get the biological concept in a a way that isn't just another boring old lecture from another boring old professor. Also, I want you to understand the concept so well that you will wonder why it wasn't so obvious to you in the first place. In my mind, that's the light bulb above you head whilst you exclaim "Well, Duh" moment. That is the point for which we should both strive. SJP
