Learn Roots Music and More!
I have been teaching professionally for 5 years. Having 13 years of experience with playing guitar, as well as a degree in Classical Guitar and composition, I am able to help you achieve your musical goals with guitar and all the other folk instruments. I started playing banjo when I was 10, and that combined with the guitar playing as well as the multitude of genres I have worked professionally in (rock, bluegrass, country, jazz, folk, classical, etc.) creates a unique understanding of the instruments I teach and of music as a whole. My lesson plans are catered to the individual to best relate to their learning style, help overcome musical obstacles and prepare them for further exploration of music.
About Taylor S.

This is my first time using Takelessons, and I am so happy to get to build here! That being said, here is some information about me: "Having been involved in recording projects and performing alongside a variety of regional and national artists including Nicholas Jamerson (Sundy Best), Tiffany Williams, Britton Patrick Morgan (featured alongside David Roe and Darrell Scott), Hillhouse, and Mama Said String Band, Taylor is no stranger to the regional and national music scene. Taylor S. is a Nashville based banjoist, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist that has been performing since 2006. Having been steeped in bluegrass tradition, as well as having pursued a degree in classical guitar and composition, he had the realization that his passion for music comes from the communication created by blending genres and getting to find the most impactful way to say something through his music. Taylor’s influences in bluegrass, classical, folk, and jazz musics meld together into a unique style that continues to grow and be influenced by music from all walks of life and parts of the world. Some of the artists that Taylor is most heavily inspired by include Bela Fleck, Bob Dylan, John Coltrane, Emily King, Maurice Ravel, Matt Menefee (Cadillac Sky), Edgar Meyer, John Prine, Joni Mitchell, Allison Brown, Joni Mitchell and Crooked Still. When not performing, Taylor loves to drink tea, cook, read, and stay involved within his community. He also loves to share the culture of Kentucky’s folk traditions through music education."
