A musician since age 4, Teresa's dad took her early passion for music seriously. So she respects the power that parents have to foster their children's musical lives! She notes the many stories she has heard over the years: "If someone had just supported my interest"... "If my teacher had listened to what I wanted to learn." These stories and her own passion for music-making inform her approach. A degreed music educator and multi-instrumentalist, she celebrates and uses the musical interests of her students to move them forward. She has three grown sons, including two touring musicians. Their musical lives also influence her work with children, young people, and adults. The point is to celebrate and develop each student's unique, interest-based musical self-expression. Whether online or in her home teaching studio* in the Sherwood Forest area of Los Angeles, 30 minutes is the perfect lesson time for many purposes, especially for young beginners. Options include piano, voice, beginning ukulele, music reading, music theory, and preparation for auditions. *COVID policies for in-person lessons include masking required for student and teacher, with only the student coming in. Parents are invited to attend the first lesson with their child.

Teresa is my first piano teacher and she is amazing! As an adult I thought it might be harder to learn but it wasn't at all with her guidance. I really wanted to learn to play with two hands and she has gotten me there and beyond. We use a lesson book and theory book to practice but she also finds music that I want to learn (e.g. Disney songs). Her studio is really beautiful and she has been very flexible with the times and dates of our lessons due to my work schedule. She is so knowledgeable! I can trust that I am learning from a talented pianist!
I was looking for an instructor who could help me with a refresher on my piano skills from when I was much younger and Teresa was the perfect find. She walked me through an accelerated piano book and has been more than flexible with my hectic and unpredictable work schedule. Would recommend Teresa to any new or returning piano/keyboard players
A few spectacular things about Terese and music: 1. She's good on Zoom, not all teachers are. Very personable! 2. She's fun and practical. I am teaching music to children and teenagers. She knows all the tricks with these age groups, passes them on and makes it easy. 3. She's deeply rooted in music, and respects and appreciates all kinds of music. 4. Teresa is a pragmatist and realist. She helps the student exactly where his/her need is greatest. She uses our time together well. 5. She shares delightful music sheets by email. For an upcoming Halloween-themed class I'm teaching, she sent me some "scary" ghosts songs that fit the bill perfectly.
