I am a professionally trained cellist and have spent the last two decades working in arts administration, higher education, and as a freelance cellist/cello teacher in Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York City. I have recently moved to Washington DC and am excited to share my love of the cello with beginning and intermediate students. I received my bachelors degree in music from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, and have masters degrees in education and arts administration from Ball State University and Baruch College. Students can expect every week to build a foundation necessary to become a great cellist. Each lesson will focus on a variety of technical components including bow grip, left hand technique, reading music (including reading different clefs), etc. We will also explore the wonderful repertoire available to this instrument, from songs for beginners up to difficult cello concerti. I have a fun, and relaxed demeanor, and try to focus on individual learning styles, goals, and levels. I look forward to meeting you and exploring all the possibilities that this instrument can offer.
