Hello there! My name is Tszto and I am a fully-trained Suzuki cello teacher based in Austin Texas. I hold a Master degree in Cello Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy from the Cleveland Institute of Music. I am also a graduate from Rice University with another Master degree in Cello Performance. I am expanding my studio and I look forward to meeting you! Having 22 years of playing experience definitely helps my teaching. Also, I have been through a period of three years without a cello teacher in high school and having to re-work myself for all the basics and fundamental work after I started taking lesson again. This experience taught me so much on how to start learning the instrument from scratch and also how to "rehab" your bad habit. As a pedagogue, this is my 10th year of teaching the cello. I am fully trained and registered with the Suzuki Association of Amercas. I have a Master degree in Cello Pedagogy. I am teaching mainly in Suzuki Method. I was an assistant teacher at the Sato Center for Suzuki Studies for two years. I take students from age 3 up and in any level. As a cellist, I was invited to perform at Tanglewood Music Center as a fellow in the summer of 2019. I have the privilege to work with some of the greatest musicians in the world such as Lorin Maazel, Andris Nelsons, Lynn Harrell, Norman Fischer, Desmond Hoebig, James Dunham, Peter Salaff, the Juilliard String Quartet and the Cavani String Quartet. I was very fortunate to receive a full-tuition scholarship from the Shepherd School of Music to study with Norman Fischer. Before studying at Rice, I studied with Mark Kosower, who is the current cello principal of the Cleveland Orchestra. I had the honour to receive the Hong Kong Arts Circle Fellowship from Asian Cultural Council and the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs music scholarship for my studies. I am also the Gold Prize Winner in Cleveland Cello Society Competition – Collegiate Division and the 1st Place Winner in American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition in 2016.

Tszto IS THE BEST CELLO TEACHER I have ever had because it is the first time someone explains me how to BREATH and ENJOY playing the cello, with a PERFECT TECHNIQUE and posture. He loves to play cello and he teaches with the same PASSION. He is super PATIENT with me and has the best way to correct me and explain me. He is an amazing cello player and really pedagogic. I had a german style teacher in the past and I stop playing cello because I didn't enjoy it and had pain and frustration. Tszto is helping me to reconnect with my cello, he corrects my posture (so it is a pleasant time with absolute no pain) and playing is turning to be a movement meditation for me, I love it now. I can feel and hear the progress on each lesson, thanks to him and to the homework (practice 15 mins, listen and reading). THANK YOU Tszto! After so many years, I am able to start again from cero and with so much passion. Thank you!
Tszto is an excellent cellist and teacher. My child has improved immensely in the few months she has been studying with him. He is diligent in making sure all aspects of playing the cello are in order from musicianship to technique. He is professional and a nice person.
Tszto was the best instructor ever! He was well-prepared, experienced, and flexible. He always brought all of his teaching materials relevant to me and made sure we cover what I needed to learn/reinforce. He was also clearly experienced with teaching a wide range of students and applied relevant teaching methods that worked best for me. I also appreciated how flexible he was in scheduling/rescheduling lessons whenever despite his own busy schedule and commitment. I only had a very positive experience learning from him and appreciated the fact that he demonstrated his passion for teaching in every lesson I had with him. Definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to learn/practice cello!
