Great instructor. Friendly, easy to understand, talented and can teach piano, theory, composition, etc.

My 10 year old son loves playing little riffs on the piano but really didn't want lessons for fear it would be too much like school. Peter has been awesome about tailoring the lessons so that my son can choose the Music he likes and move forward from his place of interest. Peter is a skilled and gifted pianist, and my son is totally inspired to keep playing and put in the work to improve.

I have been a student of Tim’s for a little over a year now. I started playing guitar at age 52 and when I started with Tim I was very close to giving up or settling on just being able to strum a few chords. I have had many hand injuries in the past that have resulted in arthritis and lack of dexterity in my wrists and some of my fingers and I started doubting I would ever be able to progress in my ability to play. From the very first lesson where I told Tim about my hand issues and my frustrations, he told me he was sure we could work around any physical limitations I had, and he was right. Tim has been able to work with me on alternative ways to play the chords I was having trouble with and has shown me that these alternate techniques along with the bit of music theory he sprinkles into lessons can really expand my ability to play.

In the time I have been studying with Tim, I have done more than I thought I ever could. I went from a frustrated beginner guitar player to having enough confidence to play on stage with some of Tim’s other students and I am now looking forward to what I will be able to do on the guitar instead of being frustrated with what I can’t do.

Tim is a talented and passionate musician as well as a knowledgeable and very relatable instructor which is a rare combination and he's also a really great guy and any student of any age or ability will benefit from studying with him.
Sam
Tim is an excellent guitar teacher and an overall great guy. He provided me with structure and support, enabling me to make the most out of my practice and ultimately progress as a player. His warm personality and contagious enthusiasm for music kept me looking forward to our time together each week. He was also very flexible when it came to scheduling to accommodate for my dynamic schedule.

Tim is an excellent teacher, providing excellent advice, practice techniques, and insights. He makes learning and improving easy and enjoyable.

Pasquale does what great teachers do - he meets the student at the student's level. I'm 64 and have been an advanced beginner my whole life. Pasquale has given me reason to think I will become a real trumpet player in the not too distant future.

He makes it real clear that I have to do the work but he is providing a very solid path to follow.

I strongly recommend as a terrific teacher.

My 14 yr old son just switched from trumpet to tuba and started tuba lessons with Mr. Gallo today. Mr. Gallo seems very knowledgeable not only about teaching tuba, but also about trumpet and other brass instruments so he knows how to help my son transition from one instrument to the other in the best way. It was a great first lesson, looking forward to more.

Very knowledgeable. Pasquale gently urged me to consider doing some “work” which is to say the very exercises I have avoided for most of my life. Sometimes you just need a good coach. My first impression is that Pasquale might be that coach.

I enjoyed the lesson.

I've been studying music my entire life and have composed, arranged, practiced and played many styles and genres of music gaining a solid understand of what makes each style, chord and melody unique. Knowing how music and harmony functions is essential to becoming a complete musician and is something that every person studying an instrument should have a grasp on. I use a blend of ear training, active listening and classroom style exercises to help the student attain a well rounded and practical understanding of the function of musical theory.

Can’t say enough about Bill! He is a great combination of kind/patient and serious. He is a very talented musician, and his enthusiasm for music comes through in his lessons each week. We have really enjoyed Bill, and learned a lot from him as well. HIGHLY recommend!

Bill was very patient and encouraging to my high school daughter who wanted to start learning how to play jazz on her clarinet. She really enjoyed the lessons and the material. She is looking forward to continuing her lessons with Bill once the Marching band season ends.

Bill is a wonderful saxophone and clarinet teacher for my two sons. He's currently working with my older son to prepare for a clarinet audition. The process of preparing for the audition showed me some important qualities about Bill: 1) he goes above and beyond for his students (e.g. he recorded my son's solo piece in various tempos to help with practice); 2) he's flexible in making time for his students based on their needs; and 3) he's supportive and likable. My younger son, who took 4 saxophone lessons from Bill, mentioned Bill as one of the reasons for picking the instrument for band next year. I highly recommend Bill.

3rd lesson done and couldn't be happier with our online teacher. Mr. Wen is informative and very professional. Recommend for anyone.
Alexa
Dr. Wen was the best professor and lesson instructor I have ever had. I took lessons with him for over seven years starting in high school and throughout my entire college. He shares his expertise in music theory, techniques, and instrument mechanics. He really helped me gain confidence in my playing abilities, showed me how I should be practicing in order to get the most of each rehearsal, and taught me so much about myself as a player. His ability to instruct on every aspect of playing the instrument is something I really admire. Need help rhythmically? He will help you understand time, measurement, and notes. Need help technically? He has all the ways to practice to get that much closer to perfection and how to maintain it. Need help with scales? He will help you to truly understand the scale in order for you to play it better. Not only will he help with the "how-tos," he will explain the why. Needing help with breathing techniques or articulations? He will take you through exercises that will enhance every aspect of your playing. He sets the standards high, and helps you reach your goals. I will always recommend Dr. Wen!
Valerie
Dr. Wen is an outstanding saxophone instructor, performer, and technician! I learned more from him in my first two 30 minute lessons than I had in 15 years of playing.
He will teach you how to make your practice time more productive, alternate fingerings to play more in tune, techniques to make note transitions easier, how to prepare new reeds for playing.... and on and on.
I had not played for a very long time. Dr Wen got me from there to where I was playing in a University Wind Ensemble, a quartet, and a community band. He also knew exactly where my saxophone needed to be adjusted to make it play better.
Dr Wen was my instructor for approximately 7 years. I learned a tremendous amount from him. You can’t do any better than Dr Andy Wen. He’s outstanding!

"Studying with Chris has been awesome. We started working together on music theory and since then he has helped me to better understand songwriting, live performance and sound production. I feel so much more confident in my abilities as a musician with the skills I’ve leaned from him. Chris is patient and very thorough. There were several moments when learning music theory that I felt I wasn’t picking it up fast enough and he continued to review the material with me until I understood it. Chris is very fluid in his teaching approach. He is able to shift from one topic to another based on what I am wanting to focus on in each lesson. My favorite part of working with his has been diving deep into my original songs and brainstorming ways to improve them. Chris always has tons of ideas to offer that are rooted in theory which makes them both practical and effective."

Why You Should Learn (At Least a Little) Music Theory

One of the most common weaknesses for amateur musicians is a lack of music theory knowledge. Many people assume that learning theory is difficult (it isn’t) that it has no practical purpose (it does), or even that it will actively make them worse at making music (quite the opposite). I’m here to convince you that learning a little about how music works is one of the most important skills you can develop and should absolutely be part of your daily practice routine. Here are five reasons w …

How to Change the Key of a Song With and Without a Computer

What Does it Mean to Change a Key? To change a song’s “key” means to shift the whole musical system to a higher or lower position. This process is called “transposition.” Performers often need transpose a song to better fit their voices. That way, a performer with a naturally lower singing voice (like myself) will be able to more comfortably sing a song that was originally written for someone with a naturally higher voice. Or vice versa.  For singers, transposition feels fairly …
